Broadway-Bound ALADDIN Opens in Toronto Tonight!

Aladdin, which will open on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, is currently playing at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre (formerly the Canon), where it will run through January 5, 2014. Opening night is tonight, November 21, 2013.

A CHRISTMAS STORY to Return in All-New Cleveland Play House Production, 11/29-12/22

ALADDIN Begins Performances at the Ed Mirvish Theatre

ALADDIN, Disney's new Broadway-bound musical, begins performances this evening at the Ed Mirvish Theatre. The production features the beloved music by Academy and Tony Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricists Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Beguelin.

Chester Gregory Returns to SISTER ACT For 2nd Year on Tour; New Casting Announced!

Producers Whoopi Goldberg, Stage Entertainment and Troika Entertainment have announced that the North American Tour of the five-time Tony Award nominated musical SISTER ACT will begin its second year of performances. The tour opened on October 2, 2012 at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre and is still rocking the rafters across the country. SISTER ACT opened to stellar reviews and continues to receive them across the country.

TV and stage star Eric McCormack saw THE WIZARD OF OZ Tour at Saturday's matinee at the Pantages in Hollywood, CA where the show plays through October 6th. He is an old friend of Lee MacDougall who plays the Lion, and took time after the show to pose for photos with the cast.

The Wizard of Oz, featuring some of movie music's most unforgettable standards, along with new music written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber; a book adapted by Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams... and everything else that is good made its way successfully to Hollywood's Pantages Theatre last week (September 18) for a high flying opening night celebration which drew a full house of young and old alike. Among those involved with the festivities were BWW TV's own Los Angeles correspondents Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans on the red carpet walk of fame. Among the celebrities in attendance were Rico Rodriquez (ABC's Modern Family) and his sister Raini Rodriguez (Disney's Austin and Ally), Fox TV's Lauren Potter (Glee), Academy Award winner George Chakiris (West Side Story), Kate Linder (The Young and The Restless), Jane Kean (The Honeymooners), Ann Jeffrey's (General Hospital, Topper), Corbin Bleu (One Life to Live), RJ Mitte (AMC's Breaking Bad), Michelle Dockery of the BBC's Downton Abbey and others of note. Anne Mirvish Dies at 94

Mirvish passed away at approximately 1:30 PM this afternoon at home surrounded by family, a representative from Mirvish productions confirmed.

Last February, BWW announced that Les Miserables would be kicking off Mirvish Productions exciting 50th Anniversary season in Toronto! Also announced at that time were Aladdin, Once, Arrabal, Metamorphosis, Heartbeat of Home and The Last Confession, as well as Dead Metaphor and God of Carnage as part of the Off-Mirvish season. This morning, Torontonians were treated to a very special media event which both celebrated the Mirvish family's commitment to Toronto theatre over the past fifty years, and also announced exciting new additions to the milestone season, effectively making it the largest season the company has ever mounted.

David Mirvish celebrates 50 years of his family producing and presenting theatre by announcing a busy new season of shows for 2013-14. In total, Mirvish Productions will present 18 shows and employ over 500 artists on its four stages in Toronto - the Royal Alexandra, Princess of Wales, Ed Mirvish and Panasonic theatres. This is the largest season Mirvish has ever presented.
