This coming Monday, July 15, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present its annual Summer Benefit Concert, presenting Tony- and Academy Award-winning actor Joel Grey, who directed NYTF's Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in film, television, and theatre. The event will feature appearances by the cast and orchestra of the critically acclaimed Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, currently running at Stage 42.

Joel Grey has written a piece for the New York Post, discussing the importance of bringing back Yiddish. This, of course, comes as a result of his hit production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, which just moved uptown to Stage 42.
The word 'meshugge' seemed to really pop out for the audience, receiving a big laugh when uttered by Tevye the night this reviewer thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully acted and sung National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's production of Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein's classic 1964 musical based on the stories of Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof.
