Music Theatre of Wichita to Stage U.S. Premiere of BETTY BLUE EYES, 7/24-28

Evening performances run Wednesday July 24 -Saturday July 27 at 8pm and Sunday July 28 at 7pm; matinee performances are Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. All shows take place at Century II Performing Arts Center. Tickets may be obtained by calling the box office (316.265.3107) or visiting the Music Theatre of Wichita website (www.MTWichita.org).

LEAP OF FAITH Now Available for Licensing Through MTI

Music Theatre International (MTI) has announced that Leap of Faith by award-winning composer Alan Menken (Disney's Beauty and The Beast and Little Shop of Horrors), is now available for licensing. The Leap of Faith score is inspired by the sounds of gospel, country, and American roots music. The creative team also includes book writers Janus Cercone and Tony winner Warren Leight (Side Man) and Grammy winning lyricist Glenn Slater (Tangled).

Music Theatre International (MTI) has just announced the launch of E-perusals, its newest resource to assist theatre companies and schools in selecting their next production.

WILLIAM CLOSE has traveled all over the world, amazing audiences with his unique, one-of-a-kind and entirely innovative musical instruments. WILLIAM--who's developed over 100 new types of instruments--now brings his highly original artistic vision to a collection of holiday classics. His new full-length album HOLIDAYS is available today, Tuesday, December 4, at www.williamcloseholidays.com and at all other digital retailers soon. These unique arrangements feature an instrument designed and built by WILLIAM himself, the Earth Harp, the world's largest string instrument.

MTI Adapts ANNIE Into 30-Minute Kids Version

In honor of the Broadway revival of Annie, Music Theatre International (MTI) has adapted the show into a 30-minute KIDS® version for performance by elementary school students.

Earlier today, Nick Jonas - the popular singer/songwriter who was most recently seen in the Tony-nominated How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying - served as master of ceremonies as hundreds of students from middle and intermediate New York City Public Schools in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Manhattan made their Broadway debut on stage at the Shubert Theatre, the culminating event of the 7th annual Shubert Foundation/MTI Broadway JR. Student Program. The students performed a song from their school's production of a student version of a Broadway musical, including Annie JR., Once on this Island JR., Disney's Aladdin JR., Guys and Dolls JR., Bugsy Malone JR., Meredith Willson's The Music Man JR., Dear Edwina JR., Fame JR., Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR., and Thoroughly Modern Millie JR. Rise of the Planet of the Apes triumphed, The Colbert Report's satire hit the right comedic note, and Ellen DeGeneres outshone her talk show rivals to be among the 22 major wins at The Humane Society of the United States' 26th Genesis Awards. Honoring the news and entertainment media for raising public awareness of animal issues, this year's awards were presented at a gala ceremony on Saturday, March 24, at The Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, Calif.
