Writers Guild and Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Tony Kushner has been chosen to receive the WGAW's 2013 Paul Selvin Award for his adapted screenplay for Lincoln. Named after the late Selvin, who served as counsel to the Guild, the award is given to the WGA member whose script best embodies the spirit of the constitutional and civil rights and liberties, which are indispensable to the survival of free writers everywhere. Kushner will be recognized, along with other honorees, at the Writers Guild Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 17, at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE.

Tony nominated actress Montego Glover has been tapped to play the recurring role of ‘Marissa' in Season two of NBC's SMASH, currently filming in New York. Marissa is described as the compassionate, authoritative stage manager. Glover won a Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award for Best Actress in a Musical for the Tony Award Winning MEMPHIS on Broadway and has been previously seen on The Good Wife, White Collar and Made In Jersey. Theatre Communications Group (TCG) today announced the publication of Tony Kushner's critically acclaimed screenplay for Lincoln, now a major motion picture directed by Steven Spielberg. Based in part on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, the published screenplay of Lincoln, available in both paperback and a limited edition hardcover, contains a Foreword by Kearns Goodwin and eight pages of color photos from the film.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will produce, in association with La Jolla Playhouse, a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical will play at La Jolla Playhouse November 5 through December 17 and will play the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in spring 2014, according to an equity casting notice. The musical features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger who will revise the show before its debut at La Jolla.
