Opera Atelier Presents Handel's THE RESURRECTION, Streaming May 27

Opera Atelier announces the anticipated new date for the online presentation of Handel's The Resurrection - fully-staged and filmed at St. Lawrence Hall, in strict compliance with provincial health and safety regulations - streaming May 27, 2021 at 7pm ET (Available until June 10, 2021).

On Beethoven's 250th Birthday, Never Before Heard Third Act Aria In Opera Lafayette's Leonore

Opera Lafayette is proud to announce its 25th anniversary season featuring its most diverse lineup to date. This year's season of three operas to be performed in both New York City and Washington, DC, includes John Blow's Venus and Adonis, Ludwig van Beethoven's Leonore, and an adaptation of François André Danican Philidor's Le Maréchal Ferrant (The Blacksmith). Opera Lafayette is renowned for its performances of both lost masterworks, once popular and culturally significant to the history of the 17th through 19th centuries, and early opera that is already part of the modern canon. In addition to this memorable season, Opera Lafayette will mark its 25th anniversary by unveiling a brand new website along with a celebratory video on October 29. 

Opera Atelier Unveils 35th Anniversary Season

Opera Atelier announces its iconic 35th Anniversary Season with two groundbreaking works at the historic Elgin Theatre: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute, considered the company's most successful production in its history, on stage from October 22a?"November 1, 2020; and The Angel Speaks a?" a new Canadian commission a?" double-billed with Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas from February 20a?"27, 2021. Both productions will feature the full corps of Artists of Atelier Ballet with choreography by Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg C.M., stage direction by Marshall Pynkoski C.M., and the renowned Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra led by Music Director Elisa Citterio under the baton of Opera Atelier Music Director David Fallis.

DON GIOVANNI Launches Opera Atelier's 2019/20 Season

Opera Atelier's 2019/20 Season opens with their ground-breaking period production of Don Giovanni from October 31a?"November 9, 2019 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre. This is the first time Opera Atelier's acclaimed production has been remounted for Toronto audiences since its 2011 premiere. Don Giovanni features Douglas Williams as Don Giovanni, Colin Ainsworth as Don Ottavio, Gustav Andreassen as the Commendatore, Mireille Asselin as Zerlina, Stephen Hegedus as Leporello, Carla Huhtanen as Donna Elvira, Olivier Laquerre as Masetto, and Meghan Lindsay as Donna Anna. 

BON IVER FIGHTS A BEAR: A Folk Music Fantasia Comes To Philly Fringe

Two of Orbiter 3's co-founders have teamed up to bring an outrageous new play to this year's Philadelphia Fringe Festival: BON IVER FIGHTS A BEAR. A fantasia based on the true story of musician Bon Iver writing his seminal debut album from a secluded cabin in the winter woods. BON IVER FIGHTS A BEAR turns this legend on its ear by telling the story "though the eyes of a crazy f**king grizzly bear who thinks Bon Iver's music sucks."

Orbiter 3 Announces Final Production, A PEOPLE

After producing six world premiere plays by Philadelphia playwrights, Orbiter 3 is presenting their seventh and final production this May: A People by L M Feldman. Opera Atelier Announces 2018-2019 Season

Opera Atelier's founding co-artistic directors Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg today announced the company's 2018-2019 season. The season opens with a French Baroque double bill of Charpentier's Act on paired with Rameau's Pygmalion (Oct. 25 Nov. 3, 2018), which will embark on an international tour to the Palace of Versailles and a soon-to-be-announced prestigious US venue. The season continues in spring 2019 with Mozart's Idomeneo(Apr. 4 13, 2019), starring Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman in her Dora Award-winning performance as Elettra.

THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO Opens Opera Atelier's 17-18 Season

Opera Atelier's 2017-2018 season opens with The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart's hilarious tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness in a world on the brink of revolution. American bass-baritone Douglas Williams will be making his Opera Atelier debut in the title role. Sung in English, The Marriage of Figaro runs at Toronto's Elgin Theatre (189 Yonge Street) Oct. 26 - Nov. 4, 2017.
