On Friday, June 17, 2022, Flushing Town Hall’s Queens Jazz Orchestra will return live to the stage with 'Bird Flight,' a special tribute program honoring Phil Schaap and the genius of Charlie Parker.
Flushing Town Hall welcomes the Queens Jazz Orchestra Ensemble to its stage on Friday, June 18 at 7PM ET for a live tribute to the late NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath, continuing to present outstanding jazz at its historic venue.
Flushing Town Hall will celebrate the life and legacy of NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath, the Music Director of the Queens Jazz Orchestra, in a virtual tribute a?" a?oeI'm Back Swinging Again! a?" on Friday, June 19 at 7:00 PM. Mr. Heath, who passed away in January at the age of 93, had been due to return to Flushing Town Hall's stage with his orchestra that evening.
As part of Flushing Town Hall's free, virtual series, FTH at Home!, the institution's beloved monthly jazz jam has gone virtual.
On Friday, June 21, Flushing Town Hall's Queens Jazz Orchestra will return to the stage to present new music by National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, Dr. Jimmy Heath. 'It Ain't Over Yet' will span the corridors of Dr. Heath's musical and creative imagination, showing that jazz continues to be a vibrant musical force.
