Sam and Bella Spewack's My Three Angels is one of those black yet heartwarming Christmas comedies, akin to It's A Wonderful Life, that really digs into the underbelly of the human condition. Christmas is never joyful for those facing unsettling economic and personal problems that cry out for even a temporary solution. Remedy? Out of the blue come three uniquely different convicts on a work release program who take jobs with a shopkeeper and his family on Devil's Island. They may begin with menial jobs, but through their darkly scheming, treacherous manner end up producing miracles. Now on stage at Group rep in NoHo, Larry Eisenberg's production of My Three Angels emanates heart and soul guaranteed to make it a truly big hit this holiday season.
The Group Rep is set to present Sam and Bella Spewack's dark comedy MY THREE ANGELS, directed by Larry Eisenberg, produced by Laura Coker and Troy Whitaker, opening Friday, December 9 at 8pm, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm, December 9, 2011 - January 15, 2012 (12/25 and 01/01, 7pm shows only) at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in the NoHo Arts District, North Hollywood, CA 91601.

Off-Broadway musical INSIDE OUT has just been re-released on Kritzerland Records. A therapy group, headed by group leader (Grace), is transformed forever when a new person (Dena) joins the group and winds up being a catalyst for change in the lives of (Sage) a flower child of the ‘80s, a powerful businesswoman (Liz), a gay, bank employee single mom (Chlo) of a teenage son, and (Molly), a mother of two young children who's dealing with weight issues. Featuring tuneful music by Adryan Russ and insightful lyrics by Russ and Doug Haverty, Inside Out, is every bit as timely today as it was when it premiered off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theater, where it received excellent reviews and praise for its amazing cast.
Actor/playwright Doug Haverty's latest world premiere play is a slice of life drama about the inner workings of a bank centering around the tellers who comprise the banking team. Entitled Next Window Please, the piece, despite its commendable message during our troubled economic times and its excellent cast and direction, now onstage at the GROUP rep in NoHo, never catches fire theatrically.
The Group Rep is proud to present the World Premiere dramedy, NEXT WINDOW, PLEASE by award-winning playwright Doug Haverty, directed by Richard Alan Woody, produced by Fran Freedman for the Group Rep, Saturday, August 13 - Saturday, September 17, 2011, at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in the NoHo Theatre and Arts District of North Hollywood.

Last mounted by Group rep in 2008, Daniel Sullivan's intelligent and very funny Inspecting Carol is a farcical look at a production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol by a regional theatre, in this case the fictional Soap Box Playhouse. Group rep's current superb cast make their second production of it a worthy view.
Every once in awhile a new musical comes along that feels truly original. Theatre West is mounting what looks to be just such a show this month with Sally Spectre The Musical, A Children's Horror Story for Adults.
