In another hit for Long Island's John W. Engeman Theatre, Tony nominee The Full Monty delivers a lively production like its Broadway predecessor. This wonderful incarnation, directed superbly by Engeman newbie KEITH ANDREWS, runs through March 5th at the gorgeous Northport venue. The tale centers on a group of steel workers who were laid-off from their job and we follow them trying to get back on their feet and overcome insecurities.
THE FULL MONTY played a full-hearted opening last night. Check out the photos below! This 10-time Tony Award nominee is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and a raucous mix of razor-sharp humor and toe-tapping pizazz... not to mention the most highly anticipated closing number in Broadway history! In need of quick cash and low on prospects, six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers come up with the outrageous idea to put on a strip act after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring company of Chippendales. As they prepare for the big night, working through their fears, self-consciousness and anxieties, they overcome their inner demons and find strength in their camaraderie.

The Gateway's exciting Long Island premiere of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert went off without a hitch this past weekend at The Patchogue Theatre. Running through August 6th, I really can't stress enough that this musical is incredibly enjoyable and the cast, directed by David Ruttura, is top-notch. There were some changes from the 2011 Broadway production, but your big, glittery heart will definitely be smiling as you leave the theatre.
It is a thrill to see the musical Saturday Night Fever, based on the movie starring John Travolta, included on The Gateway Theatre's summer roster. The gorgeous Long Island venue has a habit of getting Broadway caliber casts and, to no surprise, this one did not disappoint. The Keith Andrews directed company was absolutely superb as they seamlessly performed the iconic score featuring, as we know, the music from the Bee Gees.

Ivoryton: In the town of Winchester in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, there is a gravestone that says: 'Death Cannot Kill What Never Dies: Love.' It is a tribute to the late singer Patsy Cline. Cline died at age 30 on March 5, 1963, which was almost 49 years ago. Her music lives on partly through such stage tributes as Always. Patsy Cline, which opened the season at the Ivoryton Playhouse on March 14th.
Always Patsy Cline, playing at the Ivoryton Playhouse brings to life the true friendship between Patsy (Jacqueline Petroccia) and one of her biggest fans, Louise Seger (Laurie Dawn). Penned and originally directed by Ted Swindley, the show packs almost 30 tunes around the story of how the women met and continued their friendship through letters in the late 1950s and early '60s until Cline's death in a plane crash at the age of 30.

Always…Patsy Cline has enjoyed great success all over the United States, including a successful run off-Broadway. It is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death.
