Prospect Theater Company will present its IGNITE Series, a year-long line-up of concert events at The Times Center (242 W 41st Street), featuring today's new voices shaping the future of musical theater, from September through June.
On March 9th at 8 pm at SubCulture soprano Kate Baldwin, violinist Victoria Paterson and composer Georgia Stitt will reunite to perform "Alphabet City Cycle." Originally recorded in 2009, the song cycle with lyrics by Marcy Heisler consists of five songs about women alone in New York City.
The Human Race Theatre Company's mission to further the development of new works takes center stage with its summer Festival of New Musicals. For the seventh annual event, Producing Artistic Director Kevin Moore has selected Molly Sweeney: A Musical, an adaptation of Brian Friel's 1994 play by the same name, and created The Songwriter Showcase, a new concert production featuring a collection of songs from musicals in development by Festival alumni and writers new to Human Race audiences.
Broadway stars, producers and the Company of Jonathan Brielle's much acclaimed new musical, Himself and Nora about the tumultuous romance of famed writer James Joyce and his muse, lover and most ardent supporter, chambermaid Nora Barnacle, gathered to celebrate the release of the album produced by John Yap for noted theatrical music label Jay Records. Actor and comedian Jackie Hoffman is currently starring as Grandma Addams in The Addams Family, and later this month, Hoffman will be bringing her all-new solo show, 'Jackie Five-Oh!: A Celebration of Jackie Hoffman's First 50th Birthday,' to Joe's Pub. The show will feature Hoffman's trademark humor and original songs, including two that she wrote for Grandma Addams. Hoffman won the 2003 Theatre World Award for her role in Hairspray and has previously appeared on Broadway in Xanadu.

The third annual production of 'Unsung: A Night of Original Songs by New and Established Composers' is back at Lucille Lortel Theater this December with a cast of fifteen young performers and five special guests, including Spring Awakening's Lea Michele and Xanadu's Marty Thomas. This year's edition, 'Tis the Season to Be Naughty - will once again be directed by Phillip George (Shout! A Mod Musical, Forbidden Broadway), with musical direction by Tracy Stark and Michael Rider.
