SOPAC Gala To Be Presented Virtually And In-Person At Drew University

The SOPAC Gala brings together patrons, community leaders and artists to celebrate the nonprofit theatre's achievements and pay tribute to supporters. As SOPAC's largest fundraising event of the year, the gala raises critical funds for both arts education programs and operating support.

Chamber Music Society Announces February Concerts

CMS's 50th anniversary season will celebrate the 250th birthday of Beethoven with the 2020 edition of the Winter Festival of performances of all sixteen of the master's string quartets. They will be performed in groups corresponding to the composer's early, middle, and late periods, in the order they were composed between 1798 and 1826. Performing the sixteen quartets is a mental, physical, and emotional challenge for the artists, and they are rarely performed as a set.  For the CMS Winter Festival the performances will be by the critically-acclaimed Danish String Quartet. 

Xiomaro Presents The Art Of Phoneography

Want to take better smartphone photos? Weir Farm National Historic Site is offering a new workshop titled The Art of Phoneography, led by Visiting Artist Xiomaro three times this year. Xiomaro, a nationally-exhibited photographer, aims to provide tips and tools for participants to create dynamic, artistic photos using their smartphone. Registration is required for the free workshops - held on June 16, July 7, and September 23 (all from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm) - by calling (203) 834-1896 ext. 28.

Worcester Youth Orchestras Celebrates 70 Years with Commissions and Alumni

Worcester Youth Orchestras' anniversary season under the direction of Jonathan Edward Brennand continues on May 20 at Mechanics Hall with a 70th Anniversary Alumni Concert. The evening will feature the Worcester Youth Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestra's Alumni Orchestra, as well as the Worcester Chorus, Nashoba Valley Chorale and Auburn High School Choirs. Alumni of the WYO's prestigious programs from as far back as 1947 will join the ensembles and be in the audience.

Noted Pianist Michael Fennelly to Perform in Morris Choral Society's 5/20 Concert

Jason Tramm and the Morris Choral Society welcome acclaimed pianist Michael Fennelly who will perform Beethoven's exquisite 'Choral Fantasy, Op. 80' this Saturday May 20th at the Dorothy Young Concert Hall at Drew University. Mr. Fennelly will perform the famed concerto which Beethoven himself premiered in 1808 in in lieu of Italian pianist Cristiana Pegoraro, who is indisposed.

What keeps you up at night? This August, Writers Theatre of New Jersey and the Madison Recreation Department, as part of the Rose City Initiative,will explore that question as the Summer Youth Theatre Senior Show students perform Jonathan Dorf and Alison Wood's teen musical, 4 A.M. Alison Wood, who wrote the music and lyrics for the musical, was born and raised in New Jersey. The show will be performed by Madison residents and others ages 14 and up on August 11, 12, and 13 at Drew University, at the Directing Lab in the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts.
