The tenth anniversary season of Glorya Kaufman presents Dance at The Music Center continues with the U.S. debut of The National Ballet of Canada's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, music by Joby Talbot, at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with live orchestra for five performances only October 19-21, 2012. Karen Kain is the Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada.
Christina Applegate ('Up All Night') will join the panel as a guest judge and the show will feature a spectacular performance from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Huntington Beach High School and Academy for the Performing Arts senior Elizabeth Romero won the Spotlight competition for non-classical voice after performing at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday night in their annual event, hosted by Broadway star Ben Vereen. Selected as one of eight award winners out of 2300 students from 400 schools, Elizabeth will receive a $5,000 cash scholarship. In other news, HB APA's production of Damn Yankees soared in performance at the John Raitt Awards in Fullerton on Sunday.
After raising L.A.'s cultural pulse with new productions attracting critical acclaim, The Eli & Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center had unveiled its vision for the future and announced its 5th Anniversary Season beginning on September 1, 2012 with the Brazilian jazz singer Luciana Souza. Anne Commire, author, playwright and women's historian, passed away from cancer at her home in Waterford, Connecticut on February 23, 2012. Four of Commire's plays won O'Neill Awards and she received the prestigious Dartmouth Medal, from the American Library Association, for the groundbreaking 17 volume Women in World History, an encyclopedia of 10,000 women worldwide, published by Yorkin Publications.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series last night featured the return of Lindsay Mendez & Marco Paguia. Lindsay and Marco draw from an eclectic mix of music, reimagining songs from popular music in the familiar setting of a jazz piano trio and vocalist. Their vast catalogue is comprised of the singers and songwriters that inspire them, including Alexi Murdoch, Alicia Keys, The Beatles, Feist, Fiona Apple, Gladys Knight, Janis Joplin, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray, Martin Sexton, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Police, Stevie Wonder, and U2.
