Community Conversation To Host LGBT Dystopian Play In July

Community Conversation presented by Change the Perception has covered numerous issues each month. Gay Pride may have been in June, but at the July 23 meeting LGBT will be the topic with a reading of Gregory G. Allen's 'Hiding in Daylight': a dystopian play about life after a gay purge. Dallas actors will read the one act play and then open up the floor for a discussion. Please be advised the work is for mature audiences.

Dr. Bradley Jones returns to Don't Tell Mama on July 26th with an encore performance of Dr. Bradley's Fabulous Functional Narcissism: The Solo Show. The hilarious and moving coming-of-age story chronicles Jones' childhood as a budding theater queen, ten years on Broadway in A Chorus Line, right through the present and his successful, post -Broadway career as a psychoanalyst in New York City. 10th Annual Broadway Meows to Purr at Don't Tell Mama 7/16

The 10th Annual Broadway Meows Concert for the Humane Society of New York will be presented at Don't Tell Mama, Monday, July 16th at 7pm. The evening will be comprised of songs by composer/lyricist Seth Bisen-Hersh.

After five years of teaching, running a theatre department, singing in a big band, and fighting cancer, Singer/Actor BRUCE CLOUGH returns to the New York DON'T TELL MAMA stage--the scene of his many past Cabaret triumphs--to celebrate times in his life when something awesome came from something awful. On Sunday, July 15 at 3:30 PM, Bruce brings SILVER LININGS to Don't Tell Mama (343 W 46th St., between 8th & 9th Ave). Featuring his Musical Director Jeff Dershin on piano, and backup vocalists Barbara Gurskey and Stephen Belfatti, Bruce will tell his poignant and inspirational life stories through classic Broadway show tunes, popular film songs, and eclectic pop music from the 1960s to the 2000s, featuring compositions by Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman, Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, Jonathan Larson, Van Morrison, Weird Al Yankovic, and more.

IN THE WORKS Comes to The Duplex Cabaret Theatre 6/17

Five years after her well-received show 'Jazz and Cocktails,' 2008 MAC Award nominee Kathryne Langford returns to the cabaret stage with a compelling and topical new show, 'For What It's Worth.' Directed by multiple MAC Award winner Lennie Watts, Langford's show features songs by Stephen Stills, Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Sting, David Frishberg, Johnny Mercer and Henri Mancini, and more. The show is at Don't Tell Mama on July 13, September 7, and November 13, all at 7 pm.

The Motor Company Launches New Site Specific Laundry Play Festival!

LAUNDRYFEST will make its world premiere at The Soap Box, 110 Saratoga Ave, Brooklyn NY 11233. The show will be comprised of site specific and site responsive pieces in an actual laundromat. The festival, produced by The Motor Company (Lillian Meredith, Artistic Director; Jessica Schmidt, Producing Director), will feature new short plays and musicals by Sean Pollock, Billy Recce, Ben Holbrook and Cherry Lou Sy. Directors include NJ Agwuna, David Kahawaii, Phoebe Padget, and Lillian Meredith. The festival is co-curated and co-produced by Sean Pollock. The performance schedule is Today, June 8th, Saturday June 9th, Today, June 15th, and Saturday June 16th at 9:00PM; Sunday June 10th and Sunday June 17th at 7:00PM. Admission is free of charge to the public.
