The 5th Annual 'Tomatoes Got Talent' Contest celebrating the talents of women-over-40 who are currently not working pros took place on Monday, April 9 at The Triad. It was hosted by Randie Levine-Miller, who co-produced with Cheryl Benton, the founder and publisher of Thethreetomatoes.com, which sponsors the event. Jimmy Horan music directed what became a real musical happening!
Len Cariou and Liz Robertson, stars of the original Broadway production of Dance A Little Closer, the Charles Strouse and Alan Jay Lerner musical, have joined the cast of its previously announced concert adaptation, on Monday, April 16 at 7 pm at the Green Room 42. Presented in honor of composer Charles Strouse's 90th birthday by the Second Act Series, the stars will perform two songs they originated in the legendary, infamous and short-lived Broadway production. The abridged concert will also include never-before-heard songs cut during the show's workshop period.
On April 28th, 2018, Seth Bisen-Hersh will present an all-day, wall-to-wall concert of his songs at the renowned cabaret club, Don't Tell Mama, to celebrate the milestone of his 500th showcase.
The four-part concert (1PM, 3:30PM, 6PM & 8:30PM) will consist of 100 of Seth Bisen-Hersh's songs, including 3 world premieres, featuring over 70 performers and cast reunions from every musical that Seth has produced in NYC.
DAC Stage, in collaboration with The Lipstick Project, is producing the first ever all-female cast of Kander and Ebb's musical, Cabaret. The show will open on April 27th and run three weekends at the DAC's Weatherstone Studio. For this special production, Darien Arts Center Stage, the DAC's community theatre group, has augmented their pool of talent with that of The Lipstick Project, an all-female theatre group from Darien and surrounding towns, with a mission of empowering women through artistic opportunity and expression.
The veteran Broadway chorus boy Bradley Jones, who segued into a career as a psychoanalytic clinician and author, is currently in the midst of a crowd-pleasing comeback to the stage. His cabaret debut, which took off in a sold-out, one-night stand at The Metropolitan Room last year, continues for three nights this spring. 'Dr. Bradley's Fabulous Functional Narcissim: The Solo Show,' Jones's raucously funny and insightful coming of age story that rockets through the '60s of his childhood, through the '70s and '80s of his Broadway years, all the way to the present, gets started for two nights at The Laurie Beechman at the West Bank Cafe, 407 West 42nd Street, on Friday May 11, at 7pm and Saturday May 19, at 1pm. The fun continues for a third date at Don't Tell Mama, 343 West 46th Street, on Friday June 15 at 8pm. Jones is supported by a quartet, The Freudians, led by Mike Pettry, the show's music director, on piano, with Alden Banta on woodwinds, Jacob Silver on bass, and Zack Eldridge on percussion.
Broadway actress-singer, MAC and Bistro Award winner, Raissa Katona Bennett, returns to the cabaret stage in April celebrating the release of her third recording, CAN'T HELP SINGING - THE MUSIC OF JEROME KERN. This romantic celebration of Kern's greatest hits, including "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "All the Things You Are" and "The Way You Look Tonight," will play April 26th & May 3rd at 7pm at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Pianist, Jon Weber, joins Katona Bennett as Musical Director for this engagement.

Don't Tell Mama is thrilled to present the return engagement of West End & Broadway star and Olivier Award-nominee Liz Robertson in 'Lerner Without Loewe,' an affectionate musical tribute to her late husband, Alan Jay Lerner, the internationally acclaimed author of My Fair Lady, currently in previews at The Vivian Beaumont Theatre and opening on April 19. Having debuted the show in a one night engagement last April, she now returns for three (3) performances - Friday, April 13 at 7pm, Saturday, April 14 at 8pm, and Sunday, April 15 at 6pm. The evening is directed by Barry Kleinbort with musical direction by Ron Abel.
