Cherry Lane Theatre's award-winning MENTOR PROJECT for emerging playwrights continues its 16th season on March 12 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St. in Greenwich Village) with SONNETS ON TAP - an evening of Shakespeare sonnets performed to tap dancing - conceived and directed by Awoye Timpo. Mentored by Lisa Peterson, SONNETS ON TAP marks the very first Mentor Project directing mentorship.

Main Street Theater takes on the work of by Donald Margulies for the first time with its production of Time Stands Still, the latest by the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright. With previews March 22, 23, and 26, Time Stands Still opens March 27 and runs through April 19 at Main Street Theater - Rice Village, 2540 Times Blvd. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Tangent Theatre Company, based in their intimate Carpenter Shop Theater in Tivoli's village center, is preparing for their Spring 2014 production: a four-week run of the searching, dark comedy The Vandal by Hamish Linklater (tonight, March 6 - 30, 2014).

The suffering of others

The One-Minute Play Festival (#1MPF) (Dominic D'Andrea, Producing Artistic Director) and Phoenix Theatre (Bryan Fonseca, Producing Director; Tom Horan, Phoenix Theatre Playwright in Residence) have created a dynamic partnership for The Basile One-minute Play Festival with part of the proceeds to benefit the Phoenix Theatre.

Director Molly McMahon is hopes that her current show, Collected Stories, at the Matrix Theatre will engage the audience and make them discuss the ethical questions brought up in the play once the show is over. Donald Margulies's play is about two women writers, their relationship, and the ethical questions regarding creative freedom.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced Tony Award winner Rosemary Harris will play the role of 'Eleanor Swan' in the Off-Broadway premiere of Tom Stoppard's Indian Ink, directed by Carey Perloff. The production will begin performances on September 4 and open Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Centre for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).

Murder, mayhem and poetry. Award-winning, visionary playwright Murray Mednick brings his unique sensibility to the hair-raising, sometimes violent, and often hilarious exploits of medieval poet Francois Villon in a world premiere production directed by the playwright. Villon opens tonight, Feb. 15, presented by Padua Productions in a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre.

The trials and tribulations of marriage breakdowns come to the fore in the Old Mill Theatre's first season of 2014. Written by Donald Margulies and directed by Noel O'Neill, Dinner With Friends finds a husband and wife re-evaluating their marriage after their closest friends decide to split after 12 years.

Primary Stages, Daryl Roth, and Ted Snowdon in association with Jamie deRoy has announced a two week extension for The Tribute Artist, a new world premiere comedy written by and starring Tony-nominee Charles Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Olive and the Bitter Herbs). Extended through March 30 at Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters, the production is directed by Busch's long-time collaborator Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, The Third Story), and features Mary Bacon (Harrison, TX...; Giant), Cynthia Harris (Lost in Yonkers, 'Mad About You'), Julie Halston (Olive and the Bitter Herbs, Anything Goes) Keira Keeley (Angels in America, The Glass Menagerie), and Jonathan Walker (The Assembled Parties, The Divine Sister).
