The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that, following a two-month-long cordial exchange of correspondence with Academy president Tom Sherak, Jean-Luc Godard has regretfully notified Sherak that he will not be able to attend the November 13th Governors Awards and receive his Honorary Award in person.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted last night to present the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producer-director Francis Ford Coppola and Honorary Awards to historian and preservationist Kevin Brownlow, director Jean-Luc Godard and actor Eli Wallach.

Steve Bass will serve as production designer for the 83rd Academy Awards® presentation, Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced today. This will be the first time the Emmy®-winning production designer has worked on the Oscar telecast.

Al Pacino is this year's recipient of the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or a Movie for HBO's You Don't Know Jack. Theater vet Pacino has appeared on Broadway in Salome, American Buffalo, Hughie, and King Richard III, among others. He will next appear on Broadway in The Merchant of Venice, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre this fall.

Claire Danes is this year's recipient of the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Actress in a Mini Series or a Movie for HBO's Temple Grandin. Theater vet Danes has appeared on Broadway in Pygmalion. Additional stage credits include The Vagina Monologues, the dance piece Edith and Jenny, among others.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards is airing live coast to coast tonight, on August 29 (8-11 p.m. EST) on NBC, originating from the Nokia Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles. The June 2009 broadcast of the 63rd Annual Tony Awards was honored this evening with a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special - Dave Boone, Writer and Special Material Written by Paul Greenberg. As previously announced, the telecast was presented with the Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Programs - Ricky Kirshner, Executive Producer; Glenn Weiss, Executive Producer; and Neil Patrick Harris, Host; at the Creative Arts Emmys on August 21st.

Edie Falco is this year's recipient of the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Leading Actress in a Comedy for Showtime's Nurse Jackie. Ryan Murphy has won the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Direction of a Comedy Series for GLEE. Murphy is also the creator of the Fox hit series.

Jane Lynch has won the 2010 Primetime Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Lynch plays 'Sue Sylvester' on the Fox hit show.

Eric Stonestreet has receieved the 2010 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Modern Family. Stonestreet plays 'Cameron' on the series.

According to deadline.com, amongst a short list of announced Primetime Emmy Award presenters is Broadway veteran and GLEE superstar Matthew Morrison . Fellow Emmy nominees January Jones, Julianna Margulies, and Sofia Vergara along with Ricky Gervais and John Krasinski are the first group of presenters announced for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.
