Army Vet's Journey Takes Center Stage During NYC Debut Of MODERN WARRIOR LIVE

Modern Warrior Live, a theatrical music experience co-created by United States Army Veteran Jaymes Poling and musician Dominick Farinacci, will make its New York City debut on Saturday, January 13 and Sunday, January 14, 7:30 p.m. in the Loreto Theater at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, 18 Bleecker Street. The show explores the psychological weights of war, the challenges of reintegration as a civilian, and the potential for positive personal and communal growth. Through one combat veteran's unapologetic story, Modern Warrior highlights how post-traumatic stress can be a precursor to growth.

Monterey Jazz Festival kicks off the weekend's activities this Thursday with another edition of the 'Concert for Kids' at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, with Monterey Jazz Festival's Next Generation Jazz Orchestra performing a free 45-minute set for students enrolled in Monterey County public schools. Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage in San Diego is presenting an event featuring Janis Siegel, nine-time Grammy winner and founding member of The Manhattan Transfer on Thursday, January 16. Siegel makes her Martinis Above Fourth debut appearance with her new show and release of her new CD, NightSongs: A Late Night Interlude. This is Janis' first solo album in seven years and features interpretations of Randy Newman, Jobim, Jorge Drexler, Janelle Monae & more. Janis is joined on stage by album collaborator and pianist John DiMartino, Boris Koslov (bass) and Steve Hass (drums).

Dominick Farinacci, an American Jazz trumpeter and composer and Kevin Mileti, a Monster Truck Driver from Cleveland will load a truck full of toys that will be donated to the St. Rose of Lima school in Rockaway Beach. The school and the surrounding area was heavily affected by Hurricane Sandy. Dominick and other amazing musicians will perform a concert for the children affected by this tragedy.

On Monday night, Jim Caruso's Cast Party was a hotbed of activity, and not just because of the summer temperature! The jam-packed house was thrilled to celebrate the cast of Closer Than Ever, the Matlby-Shire musical review starring Jenn Colella, Christiane Noll, Sal Viviano and George Dvorskey, accompanied by Andrew Gerle. A few lucky (and knowledgeable) audience members even won tickets to the show.
