This July, Carnegie Hall places the spotlight on more than 200 of the nation's finest teen musicians from 36 US states with three performances presented over eight days in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.
The York Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the 2018-2019 season, HEROES!, featuring performances inspired by musical heroes, national heroes, heroes from olden times, sports heroes and even superheroes. HEROES! will offer audiences twelve performances, including six Classical Series concerts, four Pops Series concerts and the annual Young Person's Concert.
Markus Hinterhauser, Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival, will perform a two-part concert at the Ojai Music Festival in Ojai, California on June 8, 2018. The program features rarely heard works by Galina Ustvolskaya, including her Six Sonatas for Piano Solo. The first part of the concert will begin at 1:00 p.m. Hinterhauser will be joined by Patricia Kopatchinskaja, the 2018 Music Director of the Ojai Festival, for the second part of the concert at 2:30 p.m. Both parts will be performed at the Libbey Bowl.
Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) under the direction of Music Director Christopher Wilkins, and Executive Director Jo Frances Meyer, announces its 2018 season of free concerts at the DCR's Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade. On Sunday, May 20 at 4 pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) performs the world premiere of composer Saad Haddad's Risala, a PSO co-commission, and welcomes award-winning soloist Ilya Kaler onstage for Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77. Music Director Rossen Milanov takes the podium for these works and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 9 in E-Flat Major, Op. 70. The concert takes place at Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University. Early-arriving patrons will benefit from a discussion of the program at the 3pm Pre-Concert Talk with Mr. Milanov, Mr. Kaler, and Haddad.
On Friday, April 27th 2018, the Emerson String Quartet collaborated with celebrated Russian pianist Evgeny Kissin. The concert, presented at Carnegie Hall, featured Mr.Kissin in each work on the program.

The Medicine Show Theatre is proud to announce the lineup of speakers headlining the talkback series accompanying its production of The Bedbug, by Vladimir Mayakovsky. Written in 1929, this rarely produced play's socio-political commentary was ahead of its time. Through larger-than-life characters and circumstances, Mayakovsky warns of how the foibles of totalitarian regime policies can be manifested in the very people they are designed to empower.
Semyon Bychkov will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct two weeks of programs, including the 50th anniversary of a Philharmonic commission, artist debuts, and symphonic cornerstones. In the first week, Mr. Bychkov will conduct Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1, with soloist Bertrand Chamayou in his Philharmonic debut; Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5; and Brahms's Tragic Overture, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 18 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m.
Under the direction of National Philharmonic Concertmaster Colin Sorgi, the National Philharmonic Chamber Players perform the works of Schubert and Mendelssohn on April 22 at 3pm at the John Kendall Recital Hall, Potter Violins in Takoma Park, MD. Entitled "Next Generation," the concert showcases gifted students from the Philharmonic's Summer String Institutes performing the Mendelssohn Octet in E-flat Major alongside members of the Philharmonic Chamber Players. The concert also features Schubert's String Quartet in C Major. Potter's intimate hall seats only 90, allowing concert goers to experience chamber music as it was originally intended, up close and personal. One of New York oldest experimental theaters, Medicine Show Theatre, continues its exploration of Russian theater with an engrossing production of Vladimir Mayakovsky's 1929 play, The Bedbug. Ashley Wren Collins directs this production. Collins received her MFA from the American Repertory Theater / Moscow Art Theatre School IATT at Harvard. This Twilight Zonian style tale tells the story of a Russian worker awakening after 50 years in cryogenic sleep to a not so vaguely communist future, where passion, vice, and even love is ancient history.
Medicine Show Theatre hosts a Gala Salon on Friday, April 13th, to kick off its spring show, Vladimir Mayakovsky's 1929 play, The Bedbug, a biting romp through the Soviet bourgeoisie complete with philistines, party fat cats and profiteers. Doors will open at 6pm. Wine and cheese will be served to a soundtrack of Russian popular music, and theatregoers will have an opportunity to mingle with the performers, as well as see the show, for $40.

The Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra offered another of its wildly successful pop up concert series at the Bank of Hawaii headquarters downtown on March 28. Joseph Stepec, Assistant Professor of Music at The University of Hawaii at Manoa, Director of Orchestras, conducted the free concert, which received thunderous applause throughout the event.
The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents Australia's bold contemporary circus company, Circa, with their exhilarating performance Opus on April 28, 2018 at 8pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Since forming in Brisbane, Australia in 2004, Circa has become an international sensation, being called to perform in more than 35 countries. In Opus, 14 acrobats-some of whom will be suspended from the Chan Centre ceiling-will perform gravity-defying feats as they interact with the four musicians of France's esteemed Debussy String Quartet. This genre-defying work pushes the boundaries of 'nouveau cirque' to the stirring music of Dmitri Shostakovich.
The centennial of renowned American composer Leonard Bernstein is celebrated throughout the National Philharmonic's 2018-2019 concert series at The Music Center at Strathmore. Performing compositions that influenced Bernstein, as well as some of his very own famous works, the National Philharmonic will be the only symphony orchestra dedicating most of its 2018-2019 season to the works surrounding the legendary composer.
San Francisco Ballet has announced its 2018-19 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 27, 2018, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, the Company will also return to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., from October 23-28, 2018, where they will perform two mixed-bill programs of selected works from Unbound: A Festival of New Works.
