The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye has just reported that Sam Mendes production of Jez Butterworth's acclaimed play, The Ferryman is currently looking into a Broadway transfer for 2018.
Butterworth's writing offers an exquisite balance of humour and drama, revelry and mourning, surprise and expectation. It is a masterclass in every aspect of production and performance. It seems as though the Royal Court has once again made history with this incredible, deft creation.
After the short run at the Royal Court Theatre sold out in just one day, the producers are delighted to announce that Jez Butterworth's epic, new playThe Ferryman will transfer to the West End. Multi award-winning actor, director and writer Paddy Considine will be joined by Laura Donnelly and Genevieve O'Reilly in the production directed by Sam Mendes.
Final performances of the Young Chekhov trilogy begin this autumn in the Olivier Theatre, and The Plough and the Stars is wrapping up at the Lyttelton. In addition, previews begin in the Lyttelton for The Red Barn on 6 October (press night on 17 October), and Amadeus starts previewing in the Olivier from 19 October, (press night on 26 October).

Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz will direct Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock in a major co-production with Bristol Old Vic. The cast will be led by Niamh Cusack as the eponymous Juno and Des McAleer as her husband Jack Boyle. The production is at Bristol Old Vic from 5 to 27 September before moving to the Liverpool Playhouse from 1 to 18 October.
The first season with the Everyman and Playhouse back together has been extraordinary; thousands flocked to the opening weekend and the Everyman has since earned a national RIBA award and North West building of the year. Now the theatres look ahead to an autumn season featuring three ambitious new productions, full of invention and humanity.
