At 10:32 pm last Friday night, the news began to leak. Cell phones began buzzing backstage across the Great White Way and during the curtain calls of some shows like Priscilla Queen of the Desert and The Normal Heart, cast members shared the historic news with exuberant audiences: the New York State Senate had voted 33 to 29 in favor of marriage equality. New York had just become the sixth state in the nation to legalize gay marriage.

Goodspeed Musicals, the first two-time Tony Award winning theatre in the country, is pumped to announce the cast of Cutman: a boxing musical. The brand new spring production will kick off a three show season at Goodspeed's Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn. This striking musical will run from May 12 through June 5, 2011. The cast will train with the pros at the legendary Lion's Den in Middletown, Conn. Boxing equipment is generously provided by Everlast. Cutman is sponsored by Essex Savings Bank.

TGP, LLC announces casting for a stage reading of a new rock musical: The Great Pretender. The Great Pretender, is inspired by the story of one of the most talented and influential singers in rock history; Freddie Mercury. The stage reading is planned for March 2011.

Last night, July 26, the Town Hall hosted ALL SINGIN' ALL DANCIN,' an exhilarating extravaganza of song and dance directed and choreographed by Jeffrey Denman (YANK!, WHITE CHRISTMAS). Inspired by the legendary Broadway dance of The Astaires, Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson, Gower Champion, Bob Fosse, and Jerome Robbins, the show consisted of original choreography created exclusively for the concert and was set to some of the greatest show music ever written including 'Slaughter on Tenth Avenue' and 'Cell Block Tango.' Paper Mill Playhouse opened Smokey Joe's Café, directed by Mark S. Hoebee with choreography by Denis Jones on April 7, 2010. BroadwayWorld was on hand at the Millburn theater to capture the evening. The production runs through May 2, 2010.
