Hartford Stage will host the Broadway Dreams Triple Threat Extreme Workshop for local teen performers, Friday, August 16, through Sunday, August 18. The Final Showcase will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, at Hartford Stage.
The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), in partnership with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, will present CIRCLE OF DREAMS, a unique Broadway concert open to the public, at the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater (300 South Broadway Street) on Saturday, August 10 at 3 and 8 p.m. This culmination of a week-long Summer Performing Arts Intensive will be directed by acclaimed New York City director, Stafford Arima (bare, Allegiance) and will feature veteran Broadway performers alongside a talented roster of Philadelphia area BDF students.
SILENCE! THE MUSICAL will end its triumphant two-year run today, July 7th, 2013, at the Elektra Theatre. The production will have played a total of 529 performances and eight previews. Below, BroadwayWorld takes you back through the parody's time off-Broadway!
The Broadway Dreams Foundation will give aspiring performers across the country their big break with "Circle of Dreams," the 2013 Summer Performing Arts Intensive Tour. The national non-profit training program will present an incredible roster of Broadway directors, performers and industry insiders who will offer musical theatre training, mentoring and career opportunities through unique, week-long performing arts intensive workshops for students of all ages.
The Gallery Players will present Master Class by Terrence McNally beginning March 16th. Carolyn Mignini* stars as legendary opera singer, Maria Callas. Ms. Mignini's Broadway and Off-Broadway appearances include Guys and Dolls, Fiddler On The Roof , Tintypes, The Fantasticks and Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All/The Actor's Nightmare. Tom Rowan directs this limited engagement production which runs through March 31st.
Chita Rivera, Stephen Sondheim and Harold Prince will share the 2013 Jerome Robbins Award on February 18, 2013 at the Baryshnikov Arts Center. A full evening of performances, hosted by Frank Rich and featuring stars from Broadway as well as dancers from New York City Ballet will be included in the presentation.
The Broadway Dreams Foundation held its second annual Champagne & Caroling Gala last night at Celsius, a restaurant, bar and event space within Citi Pond at Bryant Park (5th Ave and 42nd Street) on Monday, December 10. Kimberly Stern is returning to the cast of Off-Broadway's SILENCE! The Musical tonight, July 18th in the role of Buffalo Bill's plus-sized victim, Catherine Martin. Tomorrow also marks the first performance of SILENCE! The Musical at its new home, the brand new Elektra Theatre in Times Square.
