Trinity Rep continues Season 52 Rebels, Renegades and Pioneers with Wendy Wasserstein's Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, The Heidi Chronicles, directed by Vivienne Benesch. Performances run December 3, 2015 through January 3, 2016.
LOVE ALONE, a new play by Deborah Salem Smith opens City Theatre's 10th season. In 2014, she was awarded a New Play Commission by Trinity Repertory. LOVE ALONE received the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award and an Honorable Mention for the Jane Chambers Playwriting Award. It was also a finalist for the Independent Reviewers of New England Award for Best New Play of 2013. This is a beautifully written script that has been given a masterful presentation in its Texas premiere. While, on the surface, this is the tale of a medical mistake that causes the death of a patient and the aftermath of that event on two families; it really is about the consequences of what one character refers to as 'editing'.
Opening City Theatre's 10th anniversary season, the Austin premiere play Love Alone by Deborah Salem Smith pulls no punches as it lays bare the emotions of two families after a routine medical procedure goes tragically wrong. The New York Times calls Love Alone a, "lucid, deeply nuanced and fearless work." The Boston Globe calls it "…first rate…a gleaming gem." And The Providence Journal says Love Alone is 'thought-provoking, well-written, and just darn good theater.' The show runs three weekends October 2 - 18.
