Center Stage Opera presents an original, modern production of Donizetti's classic comic opera, The Elixir Of Love. Inspired by film director John Hughes' teen comedies of the '80s, Director Dylan F. Thomas has set the opera on a high school campus in The Valley, circa 1985. The heroine is now the head cheerleader, her suitors are the football team captain and the nerdy team mascot, etc., and the supertitle translations of the Italian libretto are rendered in authentic '80s 'Val-Speak', all to hilarious effect, while remaining faithful to the original score and story line.
