Woolly Mammoth's Season Continues with Elevator Repair Service's ARGUENDO, 4/1-20

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will present Elevator Repair Service's Arguendo, a playful and incisively witty theatricalization of the 1991 Supreme Court case in which a group of go-go dancers, citing the First Amendment, challenged an Indiana state ban on public nudity. Elevator Repair Service's Artistic Director John Collins will direct the Company in its first extended stay in Washington, DC. Originally slated to close April 20, Arguendo will be extended for an additional weekend, performing April 25-27.
Signature Theatre Extends David Henry Hwang's KUNG FU Through 4/6

Signature Theatre has announced a third one-week extension for the world premiere of David Henry Hwang's new play KUNG FU, directed by Leigh Silverman, with choreography by Sonya Tayeh. The production will now play through Sunday, April 6 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The musical will star two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Violet), Colin Donnell (Monty), Alexander Gemignani (Father) and Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry (Flick), and will feature Ben Davis (Preacher), Annie Golden (Hotel Singer/Old Lady), Emerson Steele (Young Violet) and Austin Lesch, Anastasia McCleskey, Charlie Pollock, Jacob Keith Watson, Rema Webb and Virginia Ann Woodruff.

The first preview of the new Broadway musical ROCKY (presented by Stage Entertainment USA and Sylvester Stallone), set for tonight, February 11, has been canceled; it was announced this morning. ROCKY will now begin previews on Thursday, February13, with no performance originally scheduled for tomorrow.

Broadway's ROCKY Announces Lottery Policy

ROCKY, beginning previews February 11 and officially opening on March 13, announces a day-of-performance lottery for Golden Circle seats in the first two rows of Broadway's historic Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway, New York, NY). Golden Circle ticketholders will be escorted onto the stage to watch the climatic fight during the final 20 minutes of the performance. Entry to the lottery will begin two hours prior to each performance and the winners will be announced 90 minutes prior to curtain. The production begins performances on February 4 and officially opens on February 24, 2014 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Limited $25 subsidized tickets remain for the production's initial run through March 16. Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.

Composer Jeanine Tesori just revealed in an interview with Variety that the upcoming Broadway production will be the one-act, 'retooled and trimmed' version that was presented at Encores in summer 2013. The changes made for that presentation will be 'retained and honed.'
