Isabella Rossellini's LINK LINK CIRCUS Comes to Baryshnikov Arts Center

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) presents the American premiere of Link Link Circus, written and performed by the Golden Globe-nominated actress and filmmaker Isabella Rossellini, for seven performances only, May 16-23, 2018, at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street, Manhattan). Following Rossellini's widely acclaimed theatrical lecture Green Porno (adapted from the celebrated Sundance Channel series of the same name), which explored the sexual behavior of animals, Link Link Circus addresses the latest scientific discoveries about animal minds, intelligence, and emotions.
New Musical for Animal Lovers MUTT HOUSE Opens at Kirk Douglas Theatre in July

The world premiere of a new musical for animal lovers of all agesis set to open at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Ryan Bergmann (Die, Mommie, Die! at CTG Block Party) will direct the furry tale of fun created by Tony Cookson, with a book by Cookson and music and lyrics by John Daniel, Tony Cookson, Robb Curtis Brown and David O. Anthony Lucca will musical direct, and the choreographer is Janet Roston. Previews begin July 10, with the press opening set for July 15. Performances will continue through Aug. 5.

Performances begin Thursday, May 3 for the world premiere of "Soft Power" by David Henry Hwang (play and lyrics) and Jeanine Tesori (music and additional lyrics). This play with a musical, produced by Center Theatre Group, runs through June 10, 2018 at the Ahmanson Theatre. Directed by Leigh Silverman and choreographed by Sam Pinkleton, the opening of "Soft Power" is set for May 16. Following its run at the Ahmanson, "Soft Power" will play San Francisco's Curran from June 20 through July 8, 2018.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents The Nightmare Before Christmas on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 7:30 PM. Based on a story and characters created by Tim Burton, 1993's animated The Nightmare Before Christmas (rated PG) was directed by Henry Selick (James and the Giant Peach). This magical film follows the earnest but misguided adventures of Jack Skellington, Halloween Town's beloved Pumpkin King, as he attempts to take control of the Christmas holiday. Against the advice of Sally, a lonely rag doll who has feelings for him, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters - Lock, Shock and Barrel - to help in his plot to kidnap Santa Claus.

At a recent Los Angles Master Chorale event, a technician asked the group's Director of the Marketing if the Master Chorale was the same organization that went into schools and taught kids how to write and sing songs. When it was affirmed that it was, he exclaimed: "I was one of those kids!" His fond memory of the Voices Within program 12 years after he participated illustrates the lasting impact the program has had on thousands of students since it was launched in 2001. This year's spring series of Voices Within concerts will take place at Hooper Avenue Elementary in South Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 25 and at Sheridan Street Elementary in Boyle Heights on Thursday, April 26, creating new memories for this season's 110 participants.
