When my wife and I walked into many an opening night performance, it was our pleasure to find David and Joe Garry, David's partner for 40 years and husband for two, and schmooze about the theatre scene in Cleveland and New York, and the many places all of us had visited.

Humana Festival Founder Jon Jory and More to Join Cleveland Play House's Hall of Fame

Cleveland Play House will honor a new class of those who have contributed to its vibrant history with a Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon on October 25th from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Cibreo Privato located at 2037 E. 14th Street. 2015/16 inductees will include Jon Jory, a former apprentice actor at CPH who went on to found the Humana Festival of New American Plays, The Resident Company of CPH (1921-88), and the CPH Heritage Award will be presented to Karamu House, the revolutionary theatre who, like CPH, is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

The holiday season is upon us. Many local theatres are geared to make your days merry and bright. Curtains have or will shortly go up on the likes of 'A Christmas Carol,' 'A Christmas Story,' and 'Santaland Diaries.' Even The Key Bank Broadway series is ringing in the season with a holiday musical, 'Irving Berlin's White Christmas.'

Providence Hollander, one of the pivotal performers in Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris that became Ohio's longest running musical production, passed away in Cleveland September 10th at 84.
