The Colony Theatre Company presents the first production of its historic 35th anniversary season, the musical sensation, 2 PIANOS 4 HANDS, written by Ted Dykstra and Richard Greenblatt and directed by Tom Frey. 2 PIANOS 4 HANDS will preview on Wednesday, June 17; Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, June 20 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, July 26 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) adjacent to the Burbank Town Center.
David Mirvish is delighted to announce a change to the line-up of shows for the 2009-10 Mirvish Theatre Subscription Season. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton's new musical THE BOYS IN THE PHOTOGRAPH will be the second show in the season, replacing the already announced Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The new show will play October 20 to November 29, 2009 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

The world premiere of The Boys in the Photograph, the latest musical collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton will take place at the Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg from April 25 to May 23, 2009. The David Mirvish co-production will then move to the Canon Theatre in Toronto in June 2009.
DIRTY DANCING, The Classic Story on Stage by Eleanor Bergstein, was to have completed its Toronto engagement on March 29, 2009 after playing 74 weeks at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre. But audiences want more, so the producers have scrambled to keep the show on stage for one more week to fulfill the demand. DIRTY DANCING will now close on April 5, 2009.

The show recouped its costs back in December and has been running at a profit since then, and Variety reports that the closing has as much to do with the soft economy as with the need to open the theatre for other upcoming Mirvish productions.

Mirvish Productions has announced their upcoming 2009-10 season. Established and run by Producer David Mirvish, this Canadian company hosts shows at the Canon Theater, Princess of Wales Theater, Panasonic Theater, and Royal Alexandra Theater.
Announced for this season is a host of locally produced shows such as Cloud 9 and Stuff Happens, as well as touring shows like August: Osage County and Fiddler on the Roof, Young Frankenstein, and the new musical Little House On The Prairie. Priscilla Queen of the Desert will also come to Canadian stages, making its North American premiere.

Two entertainment industry charities: The Toronto-based Actors' Fund of Canada and New York-based Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA)are able to increase their service to the community by a total of $63,000 this winter courtesy of audiences attending Toronto performances of A Chorus Line during the last two weeks of November. The show was presented by Mirvish Productions at the Canon Theatre.
