All-Male String Quartet WELL-STRUNG Makes Joe's Pub Debut, 5/1

One Direction step aside, there's a new kind of boy band on the circuit! The all male string quartet Well-Strung features classical musicians who sing putting their own spin on the music of Mozart, Vivaldi, Rihanna, Adele, and more. Directed by Donna Drake and starring Edmund Bagnell; first violin, Christopher Marchant: second violin, Daniel Shevlin; cello and Trevor Wadleigh; viola, the show debuts at Joe's Pub on Tuesday, May 1st at 7:30PM. Well-Strung was workshopped this past winter at Ars Nova and the group will be playing The Art House in Provincetown this July and August.

Chinese Mother Jewish Daughter Productions has announced that Emmy, Drama Desk, and MAC Award nominated actress / director Donna Drake will helm the world premiere of LES ENFANTS DE PARIS at the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

War, Muslim Relations, Xenophobia and the struggles of disenfranchised youth are among the contemporary themes highlighted in Les Enfants de Paris, a world premiere musical premiering October 3rd as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Donna Drake directs a cast of seven including, Adam Halpin (Glory Days), Nadine Malouf , Sevan Greene (Aftermath, Betrayed), Megan Reinking (Million Dollar Quartet, Hair, Boardwalk Empire), Jed Resnick (Avenue Q), Dan Kohler (Blue Man Group), and Blake Segal. Seven performances will be held at the TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, NYC 10018 beginning October 3, 2011.

The evening featured the original music and lyrics of David Levinson (Les Enfants de Paris, Bàthory, NYMF Next Link Finalist 2009) along with some of Broadway's rising talents to sing on behalf of human rights and global digital access. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the first wave of invited musicals for its eighth annual festival, which join NYMF's previously announced Next Link Project productions on the 2011 Festival slate. A full breakdown of these seven new musicals follows. The rest of this season's programming, including additional full productions and special events, will be announced in the coming weeks. This year's Festival will begin September 26th and continue through October 16th.
