The Al Hirschfeld Foundation has announced the first in a series of online exhibitions exploring the work of one of the most iconic artists of the last century. On May 11, the Foundation will open a special exhibition for these times: 'SOCIALLY DISTANT THEATER: The Solo Show As Seen By Hirschfeld', a collection of 25 drawings, paintings, collages, and prints documenting a half century of one person shows.
The Al Hirschfeld Foundation has announced a new partnership with Redhouse Arts Center (Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster, Artistic Director; Samara Hannah, Executive Director) in Syracuse, to bring a new and innovative visualperforming arts curriculum to schools throughout the region. Based on Al Hirschfeld's life and work, this visionary curriculum engages K-12 students in a variety of arts activities. Developed in conjunction with the New York City Board of Education, Syracuse is the first region outside of New York City to utilize the curriculum, serving as a pilot to bring the Arts Education Initiative to underserved communities around the country. Funded in Syracuse by the Slutzker Family Foundation, the curriculum will be taught by Redhouse teachers at Redhouse's Summer Camps. Additionally, the two organizations are also developing opportunities to bring this curriculum in to schools across Central New York this Fall.

The production runs from 19 June to 11 July, with press night at Arundel and Ladbroke Gardens on 25 June.

Now for the first time, Knight's life-long love of the theatrical is the subject of a comprehensive exhibition, which has been extended through October 14, 2017 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Hilary Knight's Stage-Struck World includes original artwork for posters, illustrations for Vanity Fair magazine (where Knight is a contributing editor), Knight's most recent work - three-dimensional portraits in stage-like settings - and costume and set designs for performances and revues that reveal that for Knight, all the world is indeed a stage.
