The nominees for the Empty Space...Peter Brook Awards 2017 have been announced! The award ceremony will take place at the National Theatre Studio on October 31, 2017.

Victory Hall Opera will present the American Premiere of Jean-Philippe Rameau's Sympathy (1751, original title: Acante et Cephise ou La Sympathie), performed in French with English supertitles at The Haven, 112 Market Street, Charlottesville VA, 22902.

Ghostlight Records will release Richard Rodgers Reimagined from Kyle Riabko in all formats on Friday, October 27.

Today, the Chicago Humanities Festival revealed its full line-up for the Fallfest/17: Belief. New additions to the line-up including Tony-award winning playwright Tony Kushner, Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi, Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson, French philosopher and social critic Bernard-Henri Levy, filmmaker Joe Swanberg, Obama Presidential Center architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, and Publican chef Paul Kahan.

Abrons Arts Center will present the world premiere of The Power of Emotion: The Apartment (October 11-21), directed by Katherine Brook for her female-centered company, Tele-Violet.

Fans of Raymond Carver, one of the 20th century's most vital short story writers, will be delighted to find four of his earliest works staged in HUMAN NOISE, three stories and a poem directed and choreographed by Imago Theatre's Jerry Mouawad. The production runs for only six performances: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm from September 21 through September 30. On closing night, Imago Theatre presents an evening with Tess Gallagher, wife and partner of the late Raymond Carver (1938 - 1988). Ms. Gallagher will read from her poetry after which Imago will present HUMAN NOISE.

In response to demand, The Play Company (PlayCo), led by Founding Producer Kate Loewald and Managing Director Robert Bradshaw, has extended the U.S. premiere of Oh My Sweet Land, written and directed by Amir Nizar Zuabi, through October 22, 2017.

On September 30th, Imago Theatre presents an evening with Tess Gallagher, wife and partner of the late Raymond Carver (1938 - 1988). Ms. Gallagher will read from her poetry after which Imago will present HUMAN NOISE, three short stories and one poem staged by Imago's Jerry Mouawad. After the production Ms Gallagher will chat in an informal talk-back with the audience. 

Producers, Theatreworks USA, Martian Entertainment, Greg Schaffert Productions and Lang Entertainment Group have partnered with The Road Company (trc.nyc) to bring Drama Desk Nominated Best Musical, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical around the country beginning fall of 2018.

The stories include "Gazebo," "A Serious Talk," "Neighbors," and the poem "Torture." All the pieces explore the intimate and sometimes unusual struggles and passions of male female relationships. Carver's precise and explosively simple narratives expose veins of Northwest Americans. He was born in Clatskanie, Oregon and spent most of his time on the west coast. Two of the three stories in HUMAN NOISE first appeared in print in 1980, while the earliest, "Neighbors," was published in 1971.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.
