The nominees for the Empty Space...Peter Brook Awards 2017 have been announced! The award ceremony will take place at the National Theatre Studio on October 31, 2017.

The nominees for the Empty Space...Peter Brook Award are: the Hope Mill Theatre (Joseph Houston & William Whelton), Orange Tree Theatre (Paul Miller), The Other Room (Dan Jones), Roundabout-Paines Plough (George Perrin), Tara Arts (Jatinder Verma), and The Yard (Jay Miller).

The nominees for the Dan Crawford Innovation Award are: Company Three (Ned Glasier), Crying Out Loud (Rachel Clare), Taking Part, Young Vic (David Lan).

The Peter Brook Special Achievement Award will be presented to the London International Mime Festival (Helen Lannaghan and Joseph Seelig) for their extraordinary body of work.

The selection panel for these awards is Lyn Gardner (Guardian), Dominic Cavendish (Telegraph), Mark Shenton (The Stage & Stage Blog), Fiona Mountford (Evening Standard), Andrzej Lukowski (Time Out), Matt Trueman (independent critic) and Blanche Marvin (London TheatReviews + founder of the awards). The consultants are: Michael Billington (Guardian), Susannah Clapp (Observer), Jeremy Kingston (The Times) and Paul Taylor (The Independent). These awards are vital in furthering the fundraising for the venues and changing the face of theatre.

The nominees for the Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award are: Les Enfants Terribles (Oliver Lansley), Rhum and Clay (Matthew Wells & Julian Spooner), The Everyman Company, Everyman Theatre (Gemma Bodinetz & Deborah Aydon).

The nominees for the Peter Brook/Royal Court Theatre Support Award 2017 are The Playground Theatre (Peter Tate & Anthony Biggs), Theatre503 (Lisa Spirling).

The selection panel for both awards is Peter Wilson (Producer of The Woman in Black), Thelma Holt (West End Producer), Vicky Featherstone (Artistic Director, Royal Court Theatre), Emily McLaughlin (Head of New Work, National Theatre Studio) and Blanche Marvin (Publisher/Critic of London TheatReviews + Founder of the awards). The Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award is designed to help establish deeper development of ensemble work within the Studio Theatres. The Peter Brook/Royal Court Theatre Support Award provides a Studio Theatre with professional expertise in a specific needed area.
