According to the Chinese Almanac, Tuesday, October 11th is a good day for starting a business. So the producers of CHINGLISH, the new comedy about an American businessman doing business in China by Tony Award-winning and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly), have decided to start performances today.

Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific), GODSPELL begins preview performances at Circle in the Square Theatre on Thursday, October 13, 2011. On Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim, LuPone said: 'He's a task master when it comes to pitch and what is considered Broadway singing -- no bending of the note, no swooping. I was in 'Company' this year at the New York Philharmonic -- at the after-party, he gave me a note and I wanted to smack him. Well, I didn't want to smack him. But this was two hours after the production closed.'

CHINGLISH, the new comedy by Tony Award-winning and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly), directed by OBIE Award winner Leigh Silverman (Well, In The Wake), will begin previews on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. The play will run at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) making its Broadway premiere following its world premiere production at Goodman Theatre in Chicago this summer.
