The Drama League (Executive Director, Gabriel Shanks) has announced the 2013 Drama League Awards Nominees for Distinguished Play, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and Distinguished Performance Award. The nominations were announced at a ceremony hosted by Patina Miller and Michael Urie this morning at Sardi's Restaurant which were streamed live online at www.BroadwayWorld.com.
Naked Angels, the eclectic downtown theater company that recently partnered with the New School for Drama under the leadership of Naked Angels founding company member Pippin Parker, is pleased to announce that New School alumna Liz Carlson will assume the role of Artistic Director of Naked Angels beginning May 1, 2013, further enhancing the relationship between the two companies. Current Artistic Director Andy Donald, who succeeded Geoffrey Nauffts in July 2011 after two years as Associate Artistic Director, departs the company for a new position as a creative producer at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone headlines the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's 2012-13 NJSO POPS season finale in Newark and New Brunswick, June 1-2. The legendary diva, who last appeared with the NJSO in 2009, will perform songs from her latest album, 'Far Away Places,' backed for the first time by full orchestra. On Saturday, May 4th the Kupferberg Center presents An Evening with Michael Feinstein in the Colden Auditorium at 8:00 pm as part of the Kupferberg Center's Best of the Best Series.
Sunfish, the musical by the award-winning songwriting team of Michael Cooper and Hyeyoung Kim, will be featured as part of the Broadway's Future Songwriters Series at the Bruno Walter Auditorium, Lincoln Center in Manhattan, on Monday, May 20th at 6 pm. Songs from Sunfish will be sung by a cast soon to be announced. The evening is produced and directed by John Zindarsic. The performance is presented by Arts and Artists at St. Pauls, and is free and open to the public.

Sundance Institute just presented playwright and Sundance Institute Theatre Lab alum Branden Jacobs-Jenkins with the first-ever Tennessee Williams Award from the Institute's Theatre Program, which supports the development of new work for the stage. Sundance Institute Emeritus Trustee Sally Field presented the honor and accompanying $10,000 grant at the Celebrate Sundance Institute benefit for its Theatre Program last night at Stephan Weiss Studio in Greenwich Village.

The New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is now selling tickets to the Thursday, May 2, 2013 performance of Broadway's VANYA and SONIA and MASHA and SPIKE, the irresistible new comedy by Christopher Durang starring Tony and Emmy Award Winner David Hyde Pierce and Tony and Academy Award nominee Sigourney Weaver. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will support the free programs and services offered by the New York City Chapter, as well as research.
