Performances of Come From Away might be paused, but the cast is still uniting to confront the issues of today.

It's more than 6 months since I saw a musical and it was a very special feeling to have the opportunity to be one of 50 to see the sneak premiere on Come From Away. The theater hade prepared very well with the social distancing. Separate entrances, 25 on each side of the foyer, 1,5 meter between each seat sideways, back and front. Each seat marked with a yellow sheet marked 'This is your seat'. And everyone in Sweden is really good at keeping 1,5-2 meter distance after more than 6 month of practicing. But the government is still reluctant to increase the number of 50.

Come From Away opened in Sweden last night, playing to a socially-distanced crowd of 50! The cast features Kajsa Reingardt, Karin Oscarsson, Lisa Hu Yu, Karolin Lina Funke, Caroline Harrysson, Linda Olsson, Joakim Jennefors, Tobias Almborg, Hani Arrabi, John Alexander Eriksson, Jesper Barkselius, Sven Angleflod, and Camilo Ge Bresky.

Last night, JW3 - the Jewish community centre in London - hosted its first ever hybrid event in partnership with ALP musicals' SIGNAL series.

Come From Away is set to play to a socially-distanced crowd in Sweden tonight! David Hein, who co-wrote the show with his writing partner and wife, Irene Sankoff, took to Facebook to share his excitement about the production, stating 'we wanted to send huge congratulations from Canada and massive thanks for sharing our words (in Swedish!)'

Mirvish Productions mourns the death of Howell Binkley, one of the premier lighting designers in the world. He died August 14, 2020 in North Carolina, his wife, Joyce, told the Winston-Salem Journal. He was 64 and had lung cancer. In honour of Howell Binkley, the lights of the Royal Alexandra and Princess of Wales Theatre will be dimmed on 8/18.

The Broadway community may be experiencing some downtime, but Come From Away creators Irene Sankoff and David Hein are staying busy. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, the couple revealed that the film version of the musical is still very much in the works.

Kitchen Theatre Company has announced that producing artistic director M. Bevin O'Gara and associate producing director Lesley Greene have departed the company, as of June 30.

Director, producer and Cornell University alumnus ('93) David Winitsky has been named the new Interim Producing Artistic Director of Ithaca's Kitchen Theatre Company. David's appointment was unanimously approved by the Kitchen Theatre Company's Board of Directors. He succeeds M. Bevin O'Gara, the theatre's Producing Artistic Director since 2017.

The Jewish Repertory Theater has announced it has been selected to host a City Final in the Jewish Plays project's annual National Jewish Playwriting Contest. The JCC will host the City Final as an online event, Wednesday, June 24, from 7-8 P.M.
