The Huntington Theatre Company's longtime home on Huntington Avenue remains secure, and the Huntington will continue to produce world-class theatre there for generations to come. Beginning July 1, 2017, the building known as the Boston University Theatre will become the Huntington Avenue Theatre, controlled on a permanent basis by the Huntington Theatre Company.

Over 500 guests honored Wimberly Award recipients Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Tony and Grammy Award winner Billy Porter, while raising over $1,000,000 (with additional gifts still coming in) to support the Huntington and its programs, including its renowned education and community initiatives at the Spotlight Spectacular on Monday, April 24. "Thousands of young people come to the Huntington to see productions each year through our student matinee program either at no charge or for a nominal fee," said Managing Director Michael Maso. "This program is the centerpiece of all our education programs, the place where opportunity begins and lives are changed."

Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Tony and Grammy Award-winning artist and Topdog/Underdog director Billy Porter will be honored with the Wimberly Award at the 2017 Spotlight Spectacular on Monday, April 24, 2017. The Huntington's festive annual event raises money to support the Huntington's programs, including its award-winning youth, education, and community initiatives that reach more than 39,000 annually.

The debut of a pair of special exhibitions - one focusing on the drawings of French school children during the Great War and another featuring the remarkable photographs of renowned photographer Michael St Maur Sheil - as well as the latest event in the Operation series focusing on vodka and the Russian revolution are among the March offerings from the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

The first reading in the series is Desperados a new play by David Epstein, featuring two-time Tony Award Winner James Naughton (Chicago, City of Angels) and Laila Robins (Lucille Lortel nominee, Frozen.) The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2016-2017 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George, Stephen Sondheim's stunning masterpiece about love, inspiration, and "the art of making art." Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (A Little Night Music) will direct. Performances will run September 9 - October 16, 2016 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre. Tickets are now on sale to the general public.

 Mayor Martin J. Walsh joined Huntington Managing Director Michael Maso and developer John Matteson of QMG Huntington, LLC to announce a partnership that will allow the Huntington Theatre Company to stay in its current home, the Boston University Theatre.

Premium TV network EPIX announced today that its newest one-hour Original Documentary Doped: The Dirty Side of Sports, which offers a timely and critical look at the history of anti-doping policies in professional sports, will premiere tonight, September 30.

Kate Kenney, Eric Love, and Christopher Scheer have become well-known to Central Vermont audiences over the past few years through their work with Lost Nation Theater. Kenney, Love, and Scheer sat down with Broadway World to talk about their backgrounds, their recent run in Lost Nation's fall repertory productions of THE 39 STEPS and THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, and the important role Lost Nation has played in the development of their careers.

Singer Karyn Levitt, with pianist Eric Ostling, will perform Eric Bentley's Brecht-Eisler Song Book, a unique evening that features the songs of Austrian composer Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), set to poetry by Bertolt Brecht and other noted writers, in English versions by Eric Bentley, Monday February 3 at 7:30 PM at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia/Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (entrance on 95th Street). Eric Bentley, now 97 years old, is the first translator into English of Brecht's plays and poems, introducing Brecht's work to American stages in the 1940's and 50's. Bentley has now unlocked Hanns Eisler's starkly beautiful songs, many set to poems by Brecht, to be performed by soprano Karyn Levitt, with whom he has worked closely since 2011.
