“A prolific choreographer of skillfully constructed dances that respectfully mesh with music and striking visual design” (The New Yorker), Jessica Lang and her company return to Jacob's Pillow for the ensemble's first Ted Shawn Theatre engagement, July 5-9. In addition to a Pillow-commissioned world premiere work, the program includes Lang's Thousand Yard Stare, a dance embodying the incredible pride and honor as well as the searing loss experienced by military veterans. The program will also include the East Coast and company premiere of Lang's Lyric Pieces as well as Solo Bach, Sweet Silent Thought, and The Calling. This season, the Pillow has formed a partnership with the Tanglewood Music Center, whereby Tanglewood Fellows and alumni will be providing the music accompaniment for this engagement.

Known for its "cutting-edge contemporary work" (Jason Vondersmith, The Portland Tribune), NW Dance Project makes its Jacob's Pillow debut, June 28-July 2 in the Doris Duke Theatre. Based in Portland, Oregon and led by former Royal Winnipeg Ballet principal dancer Sarah Slipper, the company is composed of a cast of classically-trained, versatile contemporary dancers. The program includes works by a range of accomplished choreographers and rising talents: Post-Traumatic-Monster by Felix Landerer, choreographer in residence for Scapino Ballet in the Netherlands; At Some Hour You Return by former Nederlands Dans Theater dancer Ji?i Pokorný; Le Fil Rouge by 2011 Sadler's Wells Global Dance Contest winner and NW Dance Project resident choreographer Ihsan Rustem; and MemoryHouse by Artistic Director Sarah Slipper.

The Dance in Film nominations for the 2017 Chita Rivera Awards were announced today at a reception at The Lambs Club. In keeping with the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards, nominators considered films that opened during the 2016-2017 theater season.

Famed sex therapist and media personality Dr. Ruth Westheimer will be the special guest at a post-performance talkback on Tuesday, May 30 at Indecent, the Tony Award nominated Best Play, at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street).

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts will present the feath3r theory in: Another f**king Warhol Production, or Who's Afraid of Andy Warhol?, a new work from Raja Feather Kelly and his company the feath3r theory, June 22-24 at The Kitchen as part of the second annual LUMBERYARD in the City festival.

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), today announced programming for the 2017 Next Wave Festival. The Jacob's Pillow 85th Anniversary Season kicks off with the Season Opening Gala, the Pillow's signature fundraising event, Saturday, June 17. The event embodies the start of the summer season in the Berkshires, and features exclusive programming, unique and delicious food and drink, and plenty of dancing and live music.

The Tony-nominated playwright Paula Vogel (INDECENT) - a Pulitzer Prize winning dramatist and one of the nation's preeminent teachers of playwriting -- will offer one of her trademark sessions on playwriting, which she calls BOOT CAMPS, on Monday, May 22nd at the Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) starting at 10 a.m., it has been announced by Vineyard's artistic directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern.

Tony Award nominees Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman will be the featured speakers in post-show talk-backs May 16-18 at Indecent at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street).

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival has added two more opportunities for audiences to experience Trisha Brown Dance Company. Originally a five-performance run, August 16-19 in the Ted Shawn Theatre, the Pillow has added a Thursday matinee to the company's schedule. Members of Trisha Brown Dance Company will also perform the site-specific work Trisha Brown: In Plain Site at the Clark Art Institute on Sunday, August 13, a co-presentation of Jacob's Pillow Dance and the Clark. An icon of American dance with extensive Jacob's Pillow connections spanning more than 30 years, choreographer Trisha Brown died March 18, 2017. In a New York Times obituary, chief dance critic Alastair Macaulay wrote “Few dance inventors have so combined the cerebral and sensuous sides of dance as Ms. Brown did, and few have been as influential. Her choreography…helped shape generations of modern dance creators into the 21st century.”

The Lortel Awards will be presented tonight, May 7, 2017 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST. This year's event will be hosted by actor and comedian, Taran Killam, and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.

CRAWL returns with Chapter 8 featuring the work of dance artists Jasmine Hearn and Eli Tamondong, along with multidisciplinary sound artist Jesse Perlstein. True to its nomadic, adaptable nature, this edition of CRAWL will take place inside of an apartment in the famed Westbeth Artists Housing in the West Village.

La Jolla Playhouse has announced that the world-premiere, Playhouse-born productions of Come From Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by David Hein and Irene Sankoff and direction by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, and Indecent, by Paula Vogel, have both received multiple Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Obie and Lucille Lortel Award nominations for their subsequent Broadway and/or Off-Broadway productions this season.

In celebration of the history and scope of Indian dance in America, From the Horse's Mouth will dedicate its next theater/dance performance event to this storied art form, including its early connections to Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn, Jack Cole, and the fascinating early Indian dancers in America Balasaraswati, Ragini Devi, Indrani, and many more. Live music will be included in this colorful tribute, curated by Rajika Puri, doyenne of Indian Dance in NYC.

OBERON, the American Repertory Theater's (A.R.T.) second stage and club theater venue, presents ONTHEFLOOR, created and performed by The Dance Cartel. Performances will be held on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28 at OBERON, 2 Arrow St, Cambridge.
