This special event saluting NFT for 40 years a seminal force in Black Theater, will be co-hosted by Randall Pinkston (CBS News) and Emmy Award-winner Lynn Whitfield.
Last night, May 2, The Town Hall, led by Marvin Leffler and Lawrence Zucker celebrated its 90th Anniversary with 'Town Hall at 90,' a benefit concert paying tribute to the rich cultural history of the institution from 1921 to the present day. The concert starred Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, Tony Award nominee Liz Callaway, Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk, Theatre world and Emmy Award winner Tovah Feldshuh, legendary Jazz guitarist and banjoist Bucky Pizzarelli and Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner. Dancers/choreographers Jeffry Denman ('White Christmas,' 'Yank!') and Noah Racey ('Curtains') danced together. Scott Siegel, creator/writer and host of The Town Hall's acclaimed Broadway By The Year series, has written and will host the evening. In addition to celebrating NFT's vital contribution to the arts internationally, the Gala will feature special awards for 13 individuals that changed the cultural life of our nation: Sidney Poitier, Ntozake Shange, Ruby Dee, Alicia Keys, Mayor David Dinkins, Imhotep Gary Byrd, George Faison, Amiri Baraka, Rev. Malcolm Boyd, Elizabeth McCann, Carla Pinza, Terrie Williams and Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin (for the National Black Theatre Festival).

Dinkins will join the line-up for the post-show discussion tomorrow (Wednesday, February 9), which also includes CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller, Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott, and NYU Professor Martha Hodes.
