FAME cast members hit the red carpet for the advanced screening of the new version of the Oscar-winning hit at Paris Las Vegas on September 24, 2009. A remake of the 1980 original hit film FAME swings into theaters September 25. Like the original film, this interpretation will follow a talented and tenacious group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts.

Like the original, this interpretation will follow a talented and tenacious group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts. Blood, sweat and tears accompany the students as they learn to balance academia with the school's demanding arts curriculum, their own often-precarious family situations, while working to thrive in an incredibly competitive atmosphere, as they fine-tune their skills to enter the even more ferociously competitive realm of the professional arts.

Perhaps the most remarkable element of Circle Players' Fame, the Musical is its talented cast--an amazing amalgam of age-appropriate actors assaying the roles in this now-iconic tale of the last four years of New York's High School of Performing Arts. Credit director Tim Larson's casting abilities for this feat which, combined with strong production values, inventive staging and laudable choreography by Kate Adams-Johnson, makes the show an excellent choice to open Circle's 60th anniversary season.

July continues to be a busy month for Nashville-area theatre companies as five new productions are slated to open by week's end, including the world premiere of a new musical, the Nashville premiere of a new comedy by Sarah Ruhl and a production of Fame, the Musical, from Middle Tennessee's oldest community theatre organization.
