In this concert presentation of Handel's opera seria of love, war, and madness, countertenor Iestyn Davies performs the title role joined by sopranos Erin Morley (Angelica) and Carolyn Sampson (Dorinda), mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke (Medoro), and bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen (Zoroastro). The beloved musical figure passed away on June 26, 2014 at age 93. The tribute will take place on Monday evening, March 9, 2015 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Time Warner Center, Broadway & 60th Street. Scheduled performers include Placido Domingo, whose career developed under the care of Maestro Rudel, as well as mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, countertenor David Daniels, bass-baritone Mark Delavan, soprano Christine Goerke, bass-baritone James Morris, soprano Diana Soviero, and Sting.
Acclaimed soprano Laura Claycomb has agreed to step in for soprano Nicole Cabell, performing this Wednesday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with The Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Maurizio Benini. This concert is the final event in mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato's season-long Perspectives series at Carnegie Hall. Ms. Claycomb will join Ms. DiDonato and tenor Lawrence Brownlee for a program of bel canto arias, ensembles, and orchestral selections.
