Phoebe Legere, the renowned singer, author, composer and multi-format artist, has written a full-length musical comedy, 'Shakespeare and Elizabeth I: The Reality Show.' The musical is about love, war, espionage and creative genius, and includes music written by Legere, who heads the cast of ten as Queen Elizabeth I. Director David Zen Mansley plays the Bard and trumpeter Rhys Tivey plays Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, the Queen's noble heartthrob. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present this world premiere tonight, November 29 to December 15.

Producer David Binder officially announces Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner James Franco & Chris O'Dowd will make their Broadway debuts in Of Mice and Men, a new production directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. NPR Music is streaming Aheym, the upcoming collaboration between critically acclaimed composer and guitarist from The National Bryce Dessner and Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet, in its entirety.

Puppets & Poets is a festival that explores and celebrates poetry and puppetry, two of the world's oldest and most diversely practiced art forms. The third annual festival features poets, puppeteers, musicians, actors, dancers, and other artists from NYC, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Austin in an evening cabaret program for mature audiences and a family-friendly matinee program. Matinees are free, interactive, appropriate for all ages, and followed by poetry-writing and puppet-making workshops. Highlights of this year's festival include The Folk Art Opera by San Francisco poet/musician Annie Bacon and her band with puppetry by Alphabet Arts; a David Bowie-inspired rock adventure called Spacetansmananagasm by Austin actor/puppeteer Zeb West; and Blown Away by Poetry, an interactive puppet musical by NYC's Urban stages. Both the evening and matinee programs include exciting and eclectic performances blending puppetry, poetry, and other arts.
