BroadwayWorld has confirmed that The Tony Awards Administration Committee will hold its final meeting of the 2011-2012 season on Friday, April 27 to determine final Tony Award eligibility rulings for the recently opened Broadway productions.

The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess is now on Broadway with a cast led by four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald (Ragtime, 'Private Practice') as Bess, Drama Desk nominee Norm Lewis (Les Misérables, Sondheim on Sondheim) as Porgy and two-time Tony nominee David Alan Grier (Race, 'In Living Color') as Sporting Life. Earlier this month, BroadwayWorld reported that movie director Kevin Smith wants to bring his 1994 flim 'Clerks' to the Broadway stage in 2014. If this plan comes to fruition it will join the ranks of Disney's THE LION KING- another successful 1994 film, which opened in back in 1997 and is still running at the Minskoff Theatre.

The revised book of The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess has been the subject of much discussion since it's debut at A.R.T. last August, and according to Patrick Healy of the New York Times, there is still debate over its Tony eligibility. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, last week, when the Tony administration committee made a decision regarding David Alan Grier's eligibility as a featured actor, they 'took no action' with the musical's updated book (by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray), thus making it ineligible for a 'Best Book of a Musical' Tony Award. TV Land announced today that the cast of the trailblazing FOX series IN LIVING COLOR - Keenen Ivory Wayans, Jim Carrey, David Alan Grier, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Tommy Davidson, Kelly Coffield Park, Kim Wayans and T'Keyah Crystal Keymah - will be honored with the Groundbreaking Award at the 'TV Land Awards' 10th Anniversary celebration, taping Saturday, April 14 at the Lexington Avenue Armory at Gramercy Park in New York City.

Producers of The Gershwins' PORGY AND BESS have just announced plans for a national tour of the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival, set to launch in the Fall of 2013.

According to published reports, multiple Emmy Award winner and Broadway veteran James Spader ('Boston Legal,' 'The Practice') will exit NBC's 'The Office' (Thursdays, 9-9:30 p.m. ET) at the end of this eighth season. Spader plays CEO Robert California of Sabre, the parent company of Dunder Mifflin.
