Darron L. West is this year's recipient of the Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Musical for PETER AND THE STARCATCHER.

As first reported by Deadline.com, Walt Disney Pictures is beginning development on a PETER AND THE STARCATCHER movie with writer Jesse Wigutow (The Crow).

Producers Nancy Nagel Gibbs, Greg Schaffert, Eva Price and Tom Smedes announced today that Rick Elice's new play, Peter and the Starcatcher, will embark on a national tour, opening in August 2013 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, CO. The play's Tony Award-nominated directors, Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, will direct the touring production, which will be represented by The Road Company.

Canal Park Playhouse will present EXPECT THE IMPOSSIBLE, created and performed by Mark Nizer, for one weekend only! EXPECT THE IMPOSSIBLE begins performances on Friday, June 15 for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 17. Performances take place at Canal Park Playhouse (508 Canal Street, between Greenwich and West Streets in Tribeca). The performance schedule is Friday at 7 PM; Saturday at 1 PM, 4 PM & 7 PM; and Sunday at 1 PM & 4 PM. The regular ticket price is $20. 1,000 New York City public high school and middle school students from 16 schools, who are participating in TDF's Stage Doors Program, will be attending a special matinee performance of the new Tony Award-nominated play Peter and the Starcatcher on Thursday, May 10 at 2pm at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street, NYC).

Last season's debate over whether the Best Play Tony should be awarded for the quality of the written text or for the production as a whole – set off by the nomination and subsequent victory of War Horse – is likely to be brought up again if the raucously funny and surprisingly tender Peter And The Starcatcher is included among this year's nominees.
