Labyrinth Theater Company announces casting and creative team for the world premiere of Melissa Ross's Nice Girl. The production, May 7-June 7, reunites the Labyrinth Theater Company member with director Mimi O'Donnell, who worked together on the 2011 production of Thinner Than Water. Thinner Than Water marked both the playwriting debut of Ross and the directorial debut of O'Donnell.

While it has only been open to the public since April of 2014, and fund-raising efforts to complete the conversion of its 72-seat Mainstage space continue, Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre has already proven itself to be a vital part of our region's cultural life. After the critical success of its recent Lucille Lortel Award winning Off-Broadway production of Martin Moran's All the Rage (produced with piece by piece productions), acclaimed new play company Rising Phoenix Repertory presents the world premiere of RPR Company Member Sarah Shaefer's new play F**king Immaculate. Building on the company's successful downtown site-specific play series Cino Nights, Rising Phoenix Rep is attempting to grow and expand on its innovative development/production process for new plays, building in a longer rehearsal period and focusing on an even more intimate and immersive experience for artists and audiences alike. The plays will be staged in an Upper West Side apartment to be disclosed to patrons who make reservations in advance. Seating is strictly limited to ten people per night.
A Queer Theater Company has announced a strictly limited run of their bare bones, developmental production of Daniel Talbott's new drama GRAY, featuring Chris Bellant (Fairfield), Will Pullen (Scarcity, Punk Rock), and Samantha Soule (Killers and Other Family, And I And Silence). The play will be staged for five bare bones performances only at the Susan Batson Studio--300 West 43rd Street, Room 510--January 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd, all at 2 p.m.
Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announces the 2014 F*ck!ng Good Plays (festival, V): six (6) days of new play readings by six of today's hottest playwrights. The festival, to be presented at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South between West 11th and Perry Streets, will begin on Tuesday, October 7th and continue through Sunday, October 12. August is looking very gay in Philadelphia with the fourth annual GayFest! - a festival of LGBT theater presented by Quince Productions at Plays & Players and two spaces in the Adrienne Theatre. This year's festival, August 5-23 at various theaters in Philadelphia, is bigger than ever, with three special events, four mainstage plays, and five one-night stands (of the theatrical variety, that is!).
As the final play of the side project's 9-show 'Season of Reps,' the company will present the Chicago premiere of Miles Away by Christine Whitley. Directed by Scott Weinstein, the play will start previews August 4th and run in rep with Mike and Seth by Daniel Talbott, directed by Artistic Director Adam Webster. Both plays are hyper-intimate studies of characters at key turning points of their lives.

Following a sold-out debut show at Jimmy's 43, The Monologue Series is back for second installment and moving to The Barrow Street Theatre. Confessions of Sin will feature five original monologues written specifically for this evening and performed by five different actors. This one night only event will take place on June 27, 2014 at 10 PM.
Andre De Shields (Broadway's "The Wiz") and Chris Bellant (Warner Bros. upcoming "Into the Storm") star in "The Backseat", a high school coming of age comedy. The film will have its second ever New York screening at the Quad Cinema Thursday, June 26th, 7:00pm as part of the 8th Annual Manhattan Film Festival.

Lesser America will present the World Premiere of Lucas Kavner's (Fish Eye with Colt Coeur/HERE Arts Center; Love Money at Ars Nova) Carnival Kids, June 5-28 at TBG Theatre (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue). The production will be directed by Stephen Brackett (Buyer and Cellar at Barrow Street) with Assistant Director Drew Foster. The cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.
"The Optimist" by Jason Chimonides and directed by Will Wallace will have its West Coast Premiere at Elephant Stages in Los Angeles on April 3rd. The show will run through April 20th.
