Digidance Presents The Canadian Premiere Of Alexander Ekman's PLAY With Paris Opera Ballet

DanceHouse, in partnership with Digidance, kicks off its third season with the Canadian premiere of acclaimed Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman's Play, streaming Nov. 7–27, 2022. Originally created for the Paris Opera Ballet in 2017, Play transforms the historic Palais Garnier into a vast playground for 36 dancers who are encouraged to improvise with the sets and its elements. In one particularly iconic scene that is characteristic of Ekman's spectacular visual compositions, 40,000 green balls are unleashed upon the stage. 

Martha Graham Dance Company Announces New Commissions

The Martha Graham Dance Company has announced that it has commissioned choreographers Baye & Asa and Annie Rigney to create new works for the Company. Both works will premiere as part of the Company's Joyce Theater season in spring 2023.

Norway's Winter Guests Closes DanceHouse Season With Poignant Work STORY, STORY, DIE

DanceHouse presents the West Coast premiere of winter guests' evocative work, Story, story, die., choreographed by Artistic Director Alan Lucien Øyen, on stage June 22 and 23, 2022 at 8pm at the Vancouver Playhouse. Through cinematic staging and poignant spoken word, Story, story, die. is a thought-provoking look at the interdependency between lies and love and the surprising things we do in our everyday lives to present a more likeable narrative of ourselves to the world. 

Harbourfront Centre to Present North American Premiere of VIA KANANA

Harbourfront Centre, in partnership with Digidance, has announced the North American premiere of the digital broadcast of South African dance company Via Katlehong Dance and contemporary choreographer Gregory Maqoma’s Via Kanana, streaming February 16 – March 6, 2022.

BWW Interview: Red Sky's Sandra Laronde and the Vancouver premiere of TRACE

From November 24th to 27th, DanceHouse will present the second show of their season: TRACE from Red Sky Performance. The show will play at the SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts in Vancouver and will be one of their last performances on their 15-stop tour across the U.S. and Canada.

DanceHouse and 149 Arts Society to Present NEXT: New Dance in Development

DanceHouse and 149 Arts Society, with support from the NAC, have come together to envision a project in direct support of the dance community. On December 15, 2021, that vision will be presented virtually as NEXT: New Dance in Development – a residency and live stream sharing of works in progress from five emerging Canadian choreographers.
