Metropolitan Museum of Art Appoints New President

(New York, March 10, 2015)—The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that Daniel H. Weiss, an innovative executive and accomplished art historian serving currently as president of Haverford College, will be the next President of the Museum. He will succeed Emily Kernan Rafferty, who will retire from the Met on March 31 after 10 years in the post, and nearly 40 at the institution. Dr. Weiss' appointment was announced by Daniel Brodsky, Chairman of the Board, and Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited the set of HBO's Game of Thrones today as part of their 3-day state visit of Northern Ireland. The royals took time to view the Iron Throne and greet cast members in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast, in Northern Ireland.

EWonline reports that HBO's GAME OF THRONES has tapped indie rock band The Hold Steady to create a hit song for the series upcoming third season. The Brooklyn-based band will perform “The Bear and the Maiden Fair,” with lyrics by Martin and music by the show's composer Ramin Djawadi.

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts has announced its 2012-13, 24th Season. Including LE POÈME HARMONIQUE IN "VENEZIA," on opening night, eight intriguing composer portraits, featuring John Cage, Jonathan Harvey, Olga Neuwirth, Sofia Gubaidulina, Enno Poppe, Rebeecca Saunders, Oliver Knussen and Julio Estrada.
