The Theatre @ Boston Court Announces 2017 Season

 The Theatre @ Boston Court announces its 2017 Main Stage Season.  The season begins February 18, 2017 with the West Coast Premiere of Collective Rage; a Play in 5 Boops by Jen Silverman, directed by Lindsay Allbaigh. The spring production is the World Premiere of The House in Scarsdale: a memoir for the stage by Dan O'Brien; directed by Michael Michetti. The Main Stage season closes in the fall with a West Coast Premiere of With Love and a Major Organ by Julia Lederer, directed by Jessica Kubzansky.  All Main Stage productions will appear at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue in Pasadena, CA.

Lawrence Dial's IN THE ROOM Debuts Tonight at Alchemical Theatre

Slant Theatre Project and Kelli Giddish in association with Wheelhouse Theater are proud to present the World Premiere of Lawrence Dial's IN THE ROOM, directed by Adam Knight (Naperville) at the Alchemical Theatre (104 West 14th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue) tonight, October 20, through November 13.

Stage Left Theatre Announces incoming Co-Artistic Directors and New Ensemble Members

Stage Left Theatre announces that current Artistic Director Vance Smith will be succeeded by Co-Artistic Directors Jason A. Fleece and Amy Szerlong. An Ensemble Member since 2009, Fleece has served as Associate Artistic Director since 2013. He recently directed SLT's critically-acclaimed production of The Body of an American. Involved with Stage Left since 2012, Szerlong became an Artistic Associate in 2013 and an Ensemble Member in 2015. She is currently directing the world premiere of The Bottle Tree. Smith will maintain his role through October, and will produce The Bottle Tree with the assistance of the new leadership.

Stage Left Theatre Sets 35th Season

Stage Left Theatre is pleased to announce the programming for its 35th season. The season begins with the world premiere of The Bottle Tree by Beth Kander directed by ensemble member Amy Szerlong. The Bottle Tree was developed through Stage Left's Downstage Left program, at the Ashland New Plays Festival and and has received an Honorable Mention on The Kilroys List for the past two years. Next, in the winter, Stage Left and Cor Theatre present a co-production of What of the Night? by Maria Irene Fornes, directed by Carlos Murillo. This epic meditation on poverty in America was a Pultizer finalist in 1990. Cor Theatre Artistic Director Tosha Fowler says of the partnership, 'With admiration for Stage Left's longevity and the exciting opportunities they provide to artists through their strong commitment to mission, we at Cor are thrilled to announce a collaboration of theatre that is bound to leave you breathless. Combining Stage Left's strength with our fearless aesthetic, Fornes' poetically primal voice, and Carlos Murillo's passionate vision, What of the Night is going to be our biggest leap yet.' Finally, the company will present LeapFest, its annual developmental festival featuring workshop productions of new plays, at a time to be announced later.

American Theater Company to Host New Play Readings This Week

American Theater Company (ATC) announces the third year of AracaWorks: Chicago, a play development workshop in partnership with New York's The Araca Group, Broadway producers of Disgraced, Urinetown, Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, The Wedding Singer, Lend Me a Tenor and A View from the Bridge. The program gives three playwrights a weeklong development opportunity at ATC, culminating in a series of readings that for the first time will be open to the public.

BWW Review: THE BODY OF AN AMERICAN Compels at Theater J

When the foreign correspondent Paul Watson snapped a grisly photo in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993, he'd receive both a prize and a curse. He got a Pulitzer Prize for capturing the awful moment of the body of a soldier being dragged and desecrated down a side street, but also heard a imagined voice from the dead soldier that haunted him ever since.

Theater J to Host Paul Watson Event at The Newseum

?Theater J announces its partnership with the Newseum, an interactive museum of news and journalism on Pennsylvania Avenue, to present Pulitzer Prize-Winning photojournalist Paul Watson in conversation with Mark Bowden, author of Black Hawk Down. Watson is the subject of the two-man play by Dan O'Brien, The Body of an American, which is now playing at Theater J through May 22. The event, Pulitzer Prizes at 100: The Photographers: Paul Watson, will be held on May 15 at 2:30 pm and will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize.

STAGE TUBE: Watch a Day in the Life of JERSEY BOYS: A JOURNEY TO THE STAGE

On Tuesday 15 March, four new Seasons joined the cast of JERSEY BOYS at the Piccadilly Theatre ahead of its 8th Anniversary on 18 March.  This is the first time since the show opened in London that all four Seasons have changed.  In the video below, Jersey Boys: A Journey to the Stage, follows a day in the life of the show's four new Seasons, Matt Corner (Frankie Valli), Simon Bailey (Tommy De Vito), Declan Egan (Bob Gaudio) and Mat Hunt (Nick Massi).  Check it out!

Dan O'Brien's THE BODY OF AN AMERICAN to Play Theater J, 4/27-5/22

The regional premiere of the 2014 award-winning drama, The Body of An American, written by Guggenheim Fellow Dan O'Brien, plays at Theater J April 27 through May 22, 2016. This bold, radically theatrical, and poetic true story is the winner of the inaugural Edward M. Kennedy Prize, the Horton Foote Prize for Outstanding New American Play, and the PEN Center USA Award for Drama.

Chicago Theatre Week 2016 Reaches Record Audiences

Chicago Theatre Week, an annual celebration of the rich tradition of theatre-going in Chicago, reached record audiences during the fourth year of the program. Over the span of Chicago Theatre Week, February 11 - 21, 2016, 106 participating organizations sold more than 10,500 total value-priced tickets to 124 different productions.

Stage Left Theatre to Present Midwest premiere of THE BODY OF AN AMERICAN

Stage Left Theatre announces the upcoming Midwest Premiere of The Body of an American, written by Dan O'Brien and directed by Associate Artistic Director Jason A. Fleece.
