Christopher Shinn's AN OPENING IN TIME to Premiere at Hartford Stage This Fall

Hartford Stage presents the world premiere of An Opening in Time by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Connecticut native Christopher Shinn, with direction by Oliver Butler of The Debate Society, from September 17 through October 11, 2015. An Opening in Time's central Connecticut setting is inspired by Shinn's hometown of Wethersfield.

American Theater Co & Araca Group Partner for New Play Workshop

American Theater Company (ATC) announces the second year of AracaWorks: Chicago, a new play development workshop in partnership with New York's The Araca Group, Broadway producers of Disgraced, Urinetown, Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, The Wedding Singer, Lend Me a Tenor, and A View from the Bridge. AracaWorks: Chicago emerged from a collaboration that led to the development of Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar, which received the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and a 2015 Tony Award nomination for Best Play. The program gives three playwrights a weeklong development opportunity at ATC, culminating in a weekend of private readings-with one of the three plays selected to receive a year of development attention.

Darko Tresnjak to Direct World Premiere of REAR WINDOW in Connecticut

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak announced today two additions to the Hartford Stage 2015-16 Season, including the world premiere of Rear Window, adapted for the stage by Keith Reddin, and directed by Darko Tresnjak. The play is based on the same short story-"Rear Window" by Cornell Woolrich-that inspired the Alfred Hitchcock film, a 1954 Academy Award nominee.

Hartford Stage Reveals Portion of 2015-16 MainStage Season

Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak announced today Hartford Stage's 2015-16 season will open in September with the world premiere of An Opening in Time, a subtle and moving play about finding connections in a changing world, written by Connecticut native Christopher Shinn.

Hartford Stage Names Elizabeth Williamson New Associate Artistic Director

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak has promoted Elizabeth Williamson, currently Senior Dramaturg and Director of New Play Development for the Tony Award-winning theatre, to the position of Associate Artistic Director. She replaces Maxwell Williams, now Artistic Director of Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre in New Orleans.

The Wilma Theater to Continue 2014-15 Season with THE BODY OF AN AMERICAN in January

In a time when the risks of being a war journalist are making headline news The Wilma Theater continues to explore the complexities of contemporary life with Dan O'Brien's The Body of an American directed by Michael John Garces. In 1993, Canadian photojournalist Paul Watson took a Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph of a dead American soldier being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu.

Photo Flash: Suzan-Lori Parks and Dan O'Brien Honored with Horton Foote Prizes

The 2014 recipients of the Horton Foote Prize, named in honor of the legendary writer, to award excellence in American Theater, were just presented last night. The 2014 Prize for the 2012-13/2013-14 seasons' Outstanding New American Play was awarded to The Body of an American by Dan O'Brien and the 2014 Prize for Promising New American Play was awarded to Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3) by Suzan-Lori Parks.
