ART, HTC & ICA Celebrating EMERGING AMERICA 5/14-16

The American Repertory Theater, Huntington Theatre Company, and the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston have joined forces for the first time to create Emerging America - an annual festival devoted to supporting and launching new voices in American theatre. From May 14 through 16, Emerging America brings some of the country's most promising performers, writers, companies and directors to Boston for a weekend filled with energy, imagination, creativity and drama.

Lionel Popkin's THERE IS AN ELEPHANT IN THIS DANCE Comes To REDCAT 5/20-23

In May REDCAT culminates its 2009-2010 Sharon Disney Lund Dance Series with the Los Angeles premiere of There Is An Elephant In This Dance. After well received performances in New York and Washington DC, Los Angeles dance artist Lionel Popkin brings his latest work to REDCAT, featuring the original ensemble of Carolyn Hall, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Peggy Piacenza, Popkin, and a trio of musicians including composer Robert Een. Performances of There Is An Elephant In This Dance will take place at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater on Thursday, May 20, 2010 and run through Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Katonah Museum of Art Presents THE INTIMATE INANIMATE 3/28

The Katonah Museum of Art (www.katonahmuseum.org) invites you to join artists Dan Hurlin, Roman Paska, and Hanne Tierney and curator Leslee Asch for The Intimate Inanimate, a panel discussion that will provide a revealing look into works featured in the Museum's current exhibition The Art of Contemporary Puppet Theater. Ms. Asch will moderate the conversation at the Museum on Sunday, March 28 at 5:30pm. This event is free for members and $10 for non-members. Review - An Oresteia: He Had It Comin'

'Men like women with character,' is the sisterly advice a muddied, snarling, grief-stricken and murderously-crazed Elektra gives to pretty little Chrysothemis in Ann Carson's wildly clever adaptation of the ancient Greek story of bloody family doings titled An Oresteia. Growled in all seriousness by the fabulously bitter Annika Boras, the line got a huge laugh the afternoon I caught Classic Stage Company's crackling good premiere production; the swiftest five hours of theatre I've enjoyed in a long, long time.
