Arden Theatre Company opens its 29th season with Aaron Posner's STUPID f**kING BIRD, 'sort of' adapted from Anton Checkov's The Seagull. Posner, an Arden co-founder and former Artistic Director who has directed nearly 40 productions for the company, also directs his show for the first time. STUPID f**kING BIRD runs September 15 through October 16, 2016, on the F. Otto Haas Stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 207th season with the Philadelphia premiere of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER. Directed by Bill Van Horn, this play with music begins previews on March 15th, opens on March 23rd and runs through May 1st on the Walnut's Mainstage.

This evening, in a celebration attended by almost 750 theatre artists, staff, critics, and friends, Theatre Philadelphia distributed 26 awards at the 2015 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre - now in its second successful season since relaunching in fall 2013. The Awards Ceremony was held at the Merriam Theater, followed by an After-Party at Dorrance Hamilton Hall at the University of the Arts. A full list of award recipients is below.

Curio Theatre Company has announced its 2015-2016 Season. The company's 11th Season includes new looks at modern classic works of theatre. The season will open with the Philadelphia Premiere of a one-woman staging of The Handmaid's Tale (October 15-November 14). It continues with The Bald Soprano (December 2-December 19). 2016 kicks off with the production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman (February 4-March 5). The season concludes with Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan (April 21-May 21).

This well-mannered tragedy will tackle issues of sex, domesticity and class manners. Deeply controversial in its time, productions of this 1926 play were censored, and its producers and actors jailed. The Captive will be produced inside Society Hill's Physick House at 321 S. 4th Street. The historic townhouse in fact will be the perfect co-conspirator as the secrets and heated private moments unfold. PAC co-founding Artistic Director Dan Hodge directs the talented cast led by well-known Rachel Brodeur and newcomer Chase Byrd.
