Showtime Ups Nazanin Boniadi to HOMELAND Series Regular

Showtime and Fox 21 announced today that acclaimed actress Nazanin Boniadi, who guest-starred in season three of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama HOMELAND, will return as a series regular for season four. Boniadi plays Fara Sherazi, the strong-willed Muslim CIA analyst who Saul (Emmy and Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin) recruited for her expertise in international banking. Like Carrie (Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner Claire Danes), Fara shares a passion for justice and ends up enlisting her relatives in Tehran to help Carrie's secret mission in the final episodes of season three. Season four finds Fara in a key role working for Carrie at the CIA. The network's No. 1 rated series with seven million weekly viewers, HOMELAND begins production on season four this summer and will premiere in the fall on Showtime.

Damian Lewis Apologizes To Ian McKellen For 'Fruity' Comments

Multi-award-winning HOMELAND star and frequent stage actor Damian Lewis has apologized to Broadway, West End and Hollywood legend Sir Ian McKellen for recent disparaging comments referring to McKellen's role as a wizard in the popular LORD OF THE RINGS films and general career trajectory.

Ian McKellen Responds to Damian Lewis' Remark on 'Fruity' Older Actors

In an October 2013 interview with The Guardian, HOMELAND actor Damian Lewis discussed his beginnings at the Royal Shakespeare Company and his eventual desire to leave the world of stage acting. In the course of his response, Lewis said he worried he could become like, 'one of these slightly over-the-top, fruity actors who would have an illustrious career on stage, but wouldn't start getting any kind of film work until I was 50 and then start playing wizards.' Sound familiar?
