VINE OF THE DEAD Begins at The Invisible Dog This Month

Jim Findlay's VINE OF THE DEAD, a performance produced by Joel Bassin and Collapsable Giraffe, presented by The Invisible Dog Art Center, plays three performances only at The Invisible Dog, 51 Bergen St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, beginning today, May 26, and continuing through May 28, 2016 at 9 p.m.

Bisset, Orthwein, Goldhuber and Williams Set for West End Theater's 'Soaking Wet' Series

The intimate and friendly West End Theater will once again play host to the Soaking WET dance series, curated by David Parker and Jeff Kazin, May 19-22, two performances, two different programs daily. The early performances will be shared by Joshua Bisset/Shuagroup and Katy Orthwein; the later shows will feature the ensembles of Larry Goldhuber and Christopher Williams.

PS122's Spring Gala 2016 celebrates three contemporary luminaries whose influence ripples across borders and through generations by honoring Annie-B Parson and Paul Lazar, the visionary team behind Big Dance Theater. In addition, Nicole Birmann Bloom, of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, will receive the Shining Star Award for her unwavering dedication to New York City arts and French-American cultural exchange.

Vine of the Dead explores the place and meaning of ritual in the 21st century by attempting to communicate across the divide between life and death. In a series of 11 rituals, the performance channels personal experiences of death and transcendence while exploring the spirituality of skepticism.

Michael Gordon Set for Miller Theatre's Composer Portraits Series, 5/11-12

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts will conclude its 2015-2016 Composer Portraits series with Michael Gordon featuring Yarn / Wire Jim Findlay, director and designer. All four performances slated for May 11-12, 2016 at Miller Theatre are sold out.

St. Ann's to Stage Immersive BIANCO Under Brooklyn Bridge

To top off the Inaugural Season in its new Brooklyn waterfront home, St. Ann's Warehouse has invited NoFit State Circus, the UK's leading large-scale contemporary circus, to construct its 42'-high, 10,000 square-foot big top under the Brooklyn Bridge. Inside, the Wales-based international company will immerse audiences of all ages in Bianco,a gorgeous spectacle directed by Firenza Guidi. As a live rock band plays and audiences are shepherded through the space, promenade-style, the company of 35 performers and technicians creates awe-inspiring images of prowess and daring. 'This is circus as an event, aiming for grand physical/visual poetry, while at the same time exuding a huge, restless party vibe,' wrote London's The Times in a review of Bianco at the Edinburgh Festival. Continuing its commitment to introducing New York to great international artists, St. Ann's presents the work's American premiere-NoFit State Circus's North American debut-May 3-29.

LA Master Chorale to Present West Coast Premiere of 2015 Pulitzer-Winning ANTHRACITE FIELDS

The acclaimed Bang on a Can All-Stars join the Los Angeles Master Chorale for the highly anticipated west coast premiere of Julia Wolfe's 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning Anthracite Fields, on Sunday, March 6, 2016, 7:30 pm.  Performed with a multimedia backdrop by celebrated visual artist and scenic designer Jeff Sugg, the text weaves together the oral histories, interviews, union speeches and even accident reports from the Pennsylvania mining region at the turn of the 19th century.  Additionally, the program, entitled "Music of the Coal Miner" and led by Artistic Director Grant Gershon, includes selections from the Sacred Harp Anthology and spirituals of Appalachia.

Singers Claudia Boyle, Robin Adams and Katherine Manley, actor Mikel Murfi, and an ensemble of New York's finest contemporary players, conducted alternately by André de Ridder and Alan Pierson, will deliver this “searingly powerful new chamber work” (The Guardian). Presented by St. Ann's Warehouse and co-presented withPROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now andIrish Arts Center, The Last Hotel comes to New York after tremendously acclaimed engagements at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Dublin Theatre Festival and the Royal Opera House in London.

Daniel Fish, the innovative director of theater, opera, and film, collaborates with designer Jim Findlay to create WHO LEFT THIS FORK HERE, a new interdisciplinary work inspired by the psychological and emotional themes of aging and mortality in Anton Chekhov's The Three Sisters. WHO LEFT THIS FORK HERE is set for four performances only, tonight, December 9, through Saturday, December 12, at 7:30pm at Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC)'s Howard Gilman Performance Space, 450 West 37th Street.
